Coming from someone who’s never backed up any of his claims about Aranda with stats. In fact I’ve never seen one Aranda basher ever post his stats compared to Venables or any other top DC. I remember during the title game last year you same Rantards started this shite again and his numbers were compared to Venables. There wasn’t a single major category where Venables was better. Now that was immediately after the national title and maybe Venables has passed him after this season but the fact remains, there is no objective argument that’s says Dave Aranda isn’t an elite college DC. The facts simply aren’t on your side. Like the other poster said, fans like you are beyond embarrassing.

Then why isn't he producing top 5 defenses?

So with that said, why don’t you post the Aranda’s defense’s scoring average stats for the last 5 years vs Venables or “any other top DC”!

Fans like you refuse to recognize a downward trend after falling half way down the mountain!

Same dumb arse crap people tried to pull with Miles. FACT Aranda is trending down and the stats prove it!

How would you be expected to have any idea? Are you an expert on these things? I would expect them to keep a list of candidates. For the most part these would be rising stars who none of us know. Was Joe Brady on your list of offensive coaches before he was hired by LSU?

Coming into this season Aranda's defenses were only behind Venables and Saban since his arrival - based on advanced statistics.

This year has been poor, no doubt, but firing him or making him take a paycut or some BS is absurd at this point.

There is no proof of this. You never heard of him 6-7 yrs ago. I’m sure there other DCs we haven’t heard of waiting to make their mark.

He had a top 5 defense at Wisconsin 6 years ago. Before that he had a top 15 defense at Utah State 7 years ago.

We’ve had challenges this year, but let’s remember this guys accomplishments and understand he’ll turn it around. Saban is having a shite year too, it just happens.

Show me why he is considered top 5 in the country including the NFL. It’s impossible. If you go by defensive unit rankings it’s not true.

As for he will turn it around...we haven’t been able, I believe more due to scheme, to put pressure on the qb. If you know 4 can’t do it you have to come up with other ways to do so. We play better when we blitz...he just refuses to be aggressive. He is beginning to remind me of CLM with his stubbornness not to adapt.

We don't have to hire a DC, and we won't need to. Dave Aranda just needs better DL recruits, and "They Coming". Just like our offense last season needed a better OL to protect Burrow. Our DL is decent but not elite. Help is on the Way!!

2020 DL "Committed" Recruits: Demon Clowney 4 Star, Jacobian Guillory 4 Star, BJ Ojulari 4 Star, Jaquelin Roy 4 Star, Eric Taylor 4 Star, CamRon Jackson 3 Star, and Ali Gaye 3 Star,

A lot of this Aranda stuff has to do with recruiting. LSU recruits the Hell out of DB'S and WR'S, you just never hear about 5 Star linemen.

Maybe we should pay Dave $3M to recruit better?

I linked the site I used. I use that site generally for player stats, apparently their "team Defense" rankings are based on points per game, not yards per game like the NCAA site. So Steele's scoring defense at LSU was about the same ranking as ours is this years (actually slightly higher PPG than this year).

quote:

he had 1 of the best PPG with auburn just the other year.

He did and is doing well this year. He did not do that well at LSU but it was only 1 season. But reading up on his current philosophy, it appears he has done an Orgeron and learned from his past mistakes (He was the guy at Clemson that gave up 70 points to WVU in a bowl game, in his defense WVU had a very good offense in 2011).

quote:

wrong and wrong again

chavis was 9 year before

aranda was 10 his first year

Yeah see above, but, while the disparity is not as stark, it still makes the point that at LSU his numbers looked worse than the year on either side of him. I will say that this does not always tell the whole story and I think any single year of a coach (particularly year 1) can't give you the clearest idea of a coaches overall or potential performance.

quote:

he would be fine here
You could be right but I think he didn't like it at LSU.

I do think his time under Gus and the type of offense his defense has had to work in conjunction with would make him an interesting choice given the current LSU offensive philosophy. Perhaps his issues at LSU were related to the previous coaching staff or the particular type of athletes that LSU had on defense at the time not matching well with his style of defense. But that lack of success HERE is what gives me pause. That may be unwarranted. Anyway, I'm not sure he'd be interested unless the Gus Bus leaves the station.

quote:

EPIC FAIL but nice try

Sometimes this seems like the story of my life.

For giggle I looked at scoring defense since 2000 from the site I originally linked. No judgement made on the data, here it is.

2000 - #33 - 20.1 PPG - DC Phil Elmassian
2001 - #38 - 22.3 PPG - DC Gary Gibbs
2002 - #15 - 18.3 PPG - DC Will Muschamp
2003 - #1 - 11 PPG - DC Will Muschamp
2004 - #15 - 17.1 PPG - DC Will Muschamp
2005 - #3 - 14.2 PPG - DC Bo Pelini
2006 - #4 - 12.6 PPG - DC Bo Pelini
2007 - #17 - 19.9 PPG - DC Bo Pelini
2008 - #56 - 24.2 PPG - DC Doug Mallory/BDP
2009 - #11 - 16.2 PPG - DC John Chavis
2010 - #11 - 18.2 PPG - DC John Chavis
2011 - #2 - 11.13 PPG - DC John Chavis
2012 - #12 - 17.5 PPG - DC John Chavis
2013 - #21 - 22 PPG - DC John Chavis
2014 - #4 - 17.5 PPG - DC John Chavis
2015 - #41 - 24.3 PPG - DC Kevin Steele
2016 - #5 - 15.8 PPG - DC Dave Aranda
2017 - #14 - 18.9 PPG - DC Dave Aranda
2018 - #26 - 21.8 PPG - DC Dave Aranda
2019 - #42 - 23.5 PPG - DC Dave Aranda

Happy Thanksgiving you fat bastard.
