re: If Leavitt is bad again next week we have to play Clark for 2027

I agree. Leavitt needs to be on a short leash over the next few weeks. I don't think he'll be benched for the A&M though. Could see it happening after the Kentucky or MooState game though if things don't improve.

There were positives from last night. This team showed grit. Ole Miss is good this year, and they came back from a seventeen point deficit to nearly win on the road in the SEC.
Brian Kelly’s teams roll over and lose that game by 30+. Same thing with Orgeron’s post 2019 teams.

When will people here learn that the backup quarterback is not always the King of Samoa?
You must have not read my OP. In no way am I saying Clark is better than Leavitt. We don't know if he is, but if he's not, both need to go

I'm not a BK fan, but his team likely never gets to 17-0 in the first place.
O? Sure. He was an idiot and bad coach.

I'm not saying he will/should be, but if he's bad, and especially if we lose while he's bad, then 2026 is done. This is going to be a 4-5 loss regular season.
At that point, we can't get stuck with Leavitt for 2027

He didn't play last year so he is a bit rusty.
He played 7 games. He missed spring. So yes, he’s rusty but it’s not like he missed the whole season.

Down 23-7 at the half, at home, to Tennessee. Lost 40-13.
Down 35-10 at the half to Georgia. Lost 50-10.
Down 21-6 at the half to Alabama. Lost 42-13.

That was Chmabliss’ first start and they turned it over at the goalline twice.

Worse LSU team and better team than this Ole Miss

Worse LSU team. Probably an equal team to this Ole Miss team

His mistakes are beyond rust.
On the final drive he missed 2 wide open TD opportunities and then messed up a 3rd great opportunity by getting yet another ball batted at the line
Missing 4 on 2nd down as the #1/2 option is inexcusable
The pass on 3rd down was just insanely bad. There was a HUGE radius where 44 could catch the ball and he somehow threw it outside of that radius

Yeah, but their talents were obvious, I hope I am wrong, Leavitt had one thing, speed, other than that, his mechanics are ligh years behind where a player of his experience should be.

Your argument was Kelly wouldn’t be down that much. It was incorrect. Move on.

You cherry picked 3 games against much better teams.
Kelly could have easily been down 17 against 2020 Bama, too. So? We're talking about 2026 Ole Miss.
We have a better data point with a worse 2025 LSU and superior 2025 Ole Miss. Why'd you skip that much more relevant example?

He’ll be bad again and they won’t pull him early enough

If we knew that and recruited him, what does that say about us?
LSU needed a QB and he was probably the 3rd, 4th, of 5th choice. Lane went after Sorsby first. There was a push for Chambliss. Hell, literally while Leavitt was on campus Lane was trying to poach the Washington QB.

Yes, 3 games that show Kelly was more than capable of being down big at halftime.
Again, you were incorrect. Move on.

Because you argued that Kelly “wouldn’t” be down that big at the half. Stop being fricking obtuse.

So your argument is Kelly wouldn’t have been down big to them?
All I said was if Kelly or post 2019 Orgeron had been down 17 at the half, their teams would have rolled over and lost big.
Nothing you’ve posted refutes that. Every time Kelly was down big at the half LSU ended up getting blown out. This is a fact.
Making a hypothetical that they “wouldn’t” have been down in the first place doesn’t matter to me.
For the last time, you were incorrect. Move on.

The thing that is so worrying to me is that he’s played a lot of CFB, is in a very qb friendly system and misses a lot of gimme throws even when he has time. He also bails WAY TOO early.
I’ve posted already that Clark has looked very poised and comfortable in his time in the first two games albeit in very relaxed circumstances. I’d honestly like to see what he could do in a competitive portion of a game.
