Burrow and Daniels had all world WRs to throw to. Sam has WRs who wouldn't even make the roster on those teams. WR is this team's biggest weakness. Has been evident since the first possession of the season. Hard to blame everything on Sam.

His receivers aren't getting open. He either has to force a tight throw or take off running. And when he does get the ball there, it's dropped half the time.
Sam didn't have a lot of time to throw last night, either.
He wasn't perfect but he took care of the ball and kept us in the game with his legs. He's not the problem.

He’s basically a shifty runner playing quarterback. We’re so used to Burrow and Daniel’s, even Nussmeyer, at times, making pinpoint accurate throws and really behaving like a regular quarterback who can move the ball down the field in large chunks. We have to man up and face the fact that we don’t have that anymore.

No worries if he keeps running around like a chicken with his head cut off he may have a Burrow light Switch moment like Joe did getting his clocked cleaned against UCF.

Have we watched tTape on clark from last season? I remember being excited about him as a development chess piece but his completion percentage kinda skeeved me out.

He has definitely started out on a bad foot. He doesn’t seem to trust his line or his receivers. Maybe this is warranted because the practices are poor? Whatever the reason, the game is going too fast for him at this point. Maybe he settles into the offense in a couple games. Let’s hope.

I get the “backup is always better” and I also admit I have a bias for Clark because I loved his tape and then loved his attitude in interviews.
All that said is I get it’s garbage time but he plays so much calmer than leavitt and has all the scramble ability that Leavitt brings with a bigger arm.

I can think of 3 plays off the top of my head where he had open guys but botched the throw. The one to Harris that he overthrew and led to us punting, missing Grace who was wide open in the endzone on the final drive, and then the final play Harris got open in the endzone but Sam had the ball tipped at the line. If I go back and watch the tape I'm sure I can find some more.
I will agree that we don't have a WR talent like a Nabers, BTJ, Odell, Jarvis, Chase, Jefferson, etc. But guys still get open and Sam doesn't get it to them. Other than Deuce Alexander OM's WR room isn't much different, the difference is Chambliss is a much better QB. He gets rid of the ball quickly when someone gets open, he processes so much faster than Leavitt and if they aren't open he can buy time with his legs but still look downfield, Leavitt just abandons it and tries to take off.

The final plays on the goaline he messed up 3 opportunities including 2 wide open guys (completely missed 4 on 2nd down and then threw a terrible pass for 44 on 3rd down). Both were WIDE open. Then on 4th yeah he threw a bad pass to a guy who was going to be open

Sam can be accurate when he is balanced and not throwing the ball while he is running like a wild man. The QB Coach needs to reemphasize good throwing fundamentals with Sam. The biggest problem Sam had was getting outplayed by Trinidad but that is probably going to happen to every QB that plays against Ole Miss this year…
