One thing I'm certain of is that Kiffen (Weis) have only shown/used maybe 35% of their cards/plays!! They did'nt need to in games 1+2, and absolutely Did Not! They are both sneaky-supreme strategists and think/work/coordinate very well together using the same unique "system" that allows their talented players/offense to effectuate, run countless new, creative, ingenious plays! Notice how you hav'nt seen even a "hint" of any of the "trick plays" you know they have and can dial up when the "time is right". In fact, I think these highly original, surprise type plays is what defines Kiffen (what he's known for) and is how/what/why he is so unique & successful. We will perhaps "see" some of these ingenious plays against Ole Miss - IF Necessary! If Not - we Won't!
And for the same reasons as mentioned above, and the same vitally important, game-specific reasons...... I'm also certain that Coach Baker has withheld whatever defensive tricks/coverages/options he could so as to surprise, confuse one of the very best QB's & offenses Baker's defenses have ever encountered! There is NO WAY extraordinary, highly detail oriented coaches like Kiffen/Baker have NOT withheld their most brilliant, best options. You can be certain that THIS game against Ole Miss has been "front-center" in all their preparation, planning to date.
Perhaps the most cherished, unique traits I've noticed (seen, heard) with Lane Kiffen is his ingenious skill + ability to think/see/plan FAR ahead. He is many, many Steps Ahead of his competition!! And on All Fronts/Aspects!
COACHING.....will be the deciding difference in this game, which "should" create a convincing win for LSU. I AM worried about the Sankey/SEC officials! It was abundantly clear that he has/had a personal & professional vendetta against Kiffen, LSU and now Louisiana!
That misdirected, prideful spite was attempted in numerous, very serious manners/methods! But it did not, has not extracted the revenge, punishment upon the intended target his deflated ego/pride/hate demands, salivates over......Yet.
If and/or when that Sankey "doubles down" yet again..... and target sics his SEC referees on to LSU/Kiffen (there is plenty, obvious, historical evidence that Sankey WILL do/try again)......it will Monstrously Fail. For enough of the true, real Facts about the actual situation (faux spectacle/outrage) has been released. Sankey & SEC et al's reputation, and their personal/institutional pride, power, ego has been exposed and greatly tarnished.
** Fair, Unbiased or Reasoned leadership IS Not & HAS Not been utilized/directed from the SEC Office or Commissioner. Before Sankey is Fired, he will seek to punish, harm and even destroy Kiffen and/or LSU in any way he can - legally or illegally! ***
But the "Script has Flipped" in the Mainstream/Network & Social Medias awareness of the overall facts regarding the recent, undeserved and targeted spectacle/outrage against LSU & Kiffen! This is HUGE and both has & will put a microscope on any/all of Sankey + the SEC's future dealings, decisions against LSU! ANY poor/obvious calls, penalties against LSU or their players will be front/center across ALL sport's media outlets/networks/podcasts/interwebs!! They will do it not so much as Love for LSU, but because it sells newspapers/clicks/views/etc. But also because they DO love LSU, for IT IS the undisputed, biggest, most fun + exciting "ticket" (brand, ratings, atmosphere) in ALL of college sports!!

The truth is that our wide receivers, except for Green, have not been able to run routes with conviction or create much space. And they have also dropped numerous balls.
I like Leavitt, but to be honest, I think he has somewhat struggled in passing. He is inconsistent, and while he has made some good throws, he has made an equal # of poor ones; along with making some passes that were flat out "wild". And I'm not talking about the intercepted balls.
I'm not dogging Leavitt - he is very good. But he has been, and after 2 games, is somewhat scary. His elite running ability has made up for his...lets hope...."rusty" play so far. I think he "can" and likely will improve in his passing. But will there be wide receivers who are open for him to hit?!? And can, or will, they catch them? I'm not sure they are good enough, at this point, to catch passes that might be less than perfect, or where they have to fight for them. And my above "analysis" or take was against a weak Clemson and a pretty good La Tech team.....Both @ Home!
LSU has not been challenged at the level they are fixing to be. And Leavitt, who except for running, has been "rusty". And he has.....thrown interceptions! Will some of his flaws be exasperated in his very first "real" hostile/difficult collegiate environment. Sam has NOT played in packed stadiums, or in front of crowds/fans like opposing SEC environments.
It's just hard to know how anyone - especially QB's - can or will perform in extremely loud, hostile atmospheres where the pressure is really on!?! I sincerely hope he excells, rather than "clam up", get flustered. I think he will do fine!
However, if he does'nt.......I just hope Lane/Weis will substitute him for Landon Clark SOON ENOUGH before another potential spate of interceptions! Clark has looked VERY GOOD!!. Both running and especially passing! We have NOT seen his "upside". How do we, or can anyone, including coaches, really know how good he might be DURING GAMETIME....with the entire First String. Some players thrive under pressure, in games. I'm just being curious. And would like to see him given a real, legit opportunity, under pressure to see how good his upside, or downside, might be. A series or 2, early in the game, and we would see/know! If he struggles.....pull him.
Having said all that, I think LSU wins convincingly. Most everyone else who has commented above has already done a good job of rightly praising the defense. So I won't repeat what has already been said, which I agree with.
There are many other positives, strengths that LSU possess. But have not really been tested yet against strong competition and/or a difficult environment. Again, I think LSU rises to the challenge. But nothing is certain - yet. We will see/know more soon, and hopefully be very happy!

Reading a comment/post that would take the bloke 22 seconds is now the equivalent of reading War & Peace!
What's important is increasing 41K + post totals! It's all about QUANTITY rather than QUALITY - that's all that matters.

This poor fella proves my earlier point. He equates "start for a series or 2" with "replacing/benching". Poor guy is so petrified of the unknown, vs the known, that he confused the meaning of words, and the time + trial periods associated/mentioned in conjunction with them.

I too trust Lane; never said I did'nt, or was ever "questioning" his judgement! I'm just thinking, discussing a possibility on an LSU football forum who's purpose is to do precisely that.
And my points are reasonable, valid. Although most don't even know what/why my actual points were. The "don't thing or change" simpletons are unable to mentally consider, think out of the box. But if, or when, my "idea' about perhaps starting Landon Clark to see/find out his true upside, or downside, WHICH WE HAVE NOT REALLY SEEN/TESTED YET (unlike Leavitt)......when this theory/strategy I've suggested is maybe utilized soon/now or in the future......whether out of "necessity", desperation, fear, curiosity, injury, etc.......the simpletons who panic-reacted above @ starting/trying Clark out to find out will have completely forgotten (go into clinical Denial) their comments about how crazy, ridiculous, insane, idiotic the idea was!
I was told by a very wise man long ago to........"Never presume/assume that while or when dealing with individuals or the mass public......to never make the mistake that you are dealing with rational, intelligent people"! That advice is especially helpful here while reading/discussing various topics. Their simplistic, gutteral reactions, comments don't faze me. It's not to them I write/speak. But their lack of being able to follow, understand or even read a topic/thread is concerning, sad & frustrating at times. Their one-track, hard-headed, resistive mindset reminds me of Les Miles. Fortunately, Lane Kiffen does not think that way. He is totally into thinking, incorporating fresh, bold, new ideas. He's not boring, and is thus the #1 most desirable interview, guest & coach!

Quite obvious that most comments/posters have not, or do not, have the attention span to actually read an entire post, follow up or thread. I’m not discussing or concerned with the 80% who don’t/can’t read or comprehend, process options, ideas or logic. But there ARE many here who WILL see the possible benefits, perhaps brilliance being presented here as to how/why it makes factually documented, reasoned sense to “try + use” Clark, and to even start him, until he & the offense sputters (or for just a series or 2 with the entire first string, under pressure, not cleanup….just to “see”)…..AND to allow Leavitt some time to “think” + settle down. It’s done all the time, to great players, especially after several serious mistakes.
The other ingenious benefit, outcome of “starting” Landon Clark @ Ole Miss is that THEY ARE EXPECTING, PREPARING FOR LEAVITT! It could/would Totally Flip the Script on their Field/Stadium to Surprise them Initially, Throw them Off, Unbalance their Defensive Plan!
Again, what’s the worse that could happen? A 99 Yard Pick 6?

Far Different making Big Mistakes in front of fans that love you! Leavitt has Never faced what He will this Saturday.
Many great, promising QB’s/Pitchers, and other athletes, seasons/careers have been ruined by further exposing, rather than protecting them with an appropriately “timed” - “time out” by sitting briefly on the bench.

Thanks for that! I was'nt thinking, and therefore did'nt specifically address the "Ego" aspect, but that is a large part of what I was suggesting.

Does the risk of starting Clark really outweigh the known risk Leavitt has shown!? From what I've seen on the field....No!

Yea.....I get it! Based on the "Thread Topic/Wording Alone" - it's going to cause immediate negative responses! But read through and try to follow the multi-phased reasoning and logic involved @ this suggested strategy of utilizing what has basically been a "perfect performance" from what we've seen of Landon Clark so far!
To begin.......I've been very impressed with Landon Clark! So have MANY others! Leavitt gives you more upside, perhaps, but is Clark "safer"? Clark looks perfectly capable of moving the ball both in the air and his ability to run. And he looks very confident, secure in running the offense.
Could Landon be started/used to give Leavitt time to mentally adjust? Clark could be given a "trial" start......see how he does, which might surprise everyone, and pull him soon after, or if, he struggles, breaks down!
What have we got to lose? Start him for a series or two.....see how it goes. The reason I'm "thinking" or suggesting this strategy should be obvious after last night. Finebaum's "schtick" works, has TV ratings "value", AS LONG AS viewers don't figure out that everything he says/does is a premeditated schtick he performs to trick/fake his audience! Paul Finebaum is a Phony. He's dishonest. And nothing he says can be trusted.
Eventually, fans realize they're being played & used. Kiffin then used, flipped Finebaum's schtick by explaining that when Paul is dogging you and/or your team it almost always means that you are succeeding and fixing to excel! Lane Kiffin is straight, direct (honest). And Lane is a bona fide Genious - on & off the field. And that is why Kiffin is always the #1 interview, topic & Coach!
When you are genuinely Good @ what you Do, you don't have to lie or manipulate others. You just Do what you are Naturally Great at!
Finebaum's downfall will come soon. Why? It won't be due to sport's fans realizing that he, and his Schtick, have been totally exposed. Paul Finebaum will be fired and taken off the Air due to viewers eventually realizing that it was the Network/Media that was also manipulating, lying to them by employing, paying him and giving him the Microphone/Camera to fool/use you!
Finebaum's boss - the MSM Networks - can not afford to be exposed! So, it won't be long till JugEars is removed from your TV screen forever. Kiffin (LSU) exposed him, just like Kiffin & LSU exposed Sankey & the SEC. Which is why you will also see Sankey removed. The SEC can not afford for their reputation to be further tarnished.

Like Covid & Vaccines, I see many sheep here that still bought the Mainstream Sports + Social Media's faux outrage/spectacle, instead of doing your own research.
Many opposing fanbases' brains have forced them into clinical Denial out of fear/envy of LSU.

Alabama, and DeBoar got VERY, VERY lucky last year. Everyone, including Bama fans, know (saw) this.
And the days of the Elephants being coddled and "given" a Playoff Birth like last year are over!
Alabama will likely continue to field a respectable, above average, mid-tier football team. But in this NIL era, and their inability to play (pay); the wise, "smart money" approach/advice would be to invest (stretch) what little they have on other sports besides football.

With the actual facts, details and circumstances surrounding the last 2 weeks becoming more well known, understood......LSU has gained strong support and Sankey & the SEC's reputation has plummeted.
So, yes - the SEC office & their Refs will be under the microscope, and will be called out. But they can and will likely still (continue) to specifically screw us. The only guaranteed way to offset it is to play clean, disciplined, respectful, error free football on the field.....like they did against Clemson! In other words....."win the respect of the referees, media, other fan bases" by playing in a stellar, convincing fashion on the football field.
LSU needs to Over-Beat their opponents, but needs to do it while being a "Good Sport". High Quality, Exceptional, Clean & Entertaining Football will get even your opponents respect.....and in the end....their support.
Not an easy thing to do, but possible. And maybe necessary, especially this season, under these recent, ongoing circumstances! Fortunately - this LSU team, players, coaching staff appears capable of doing it!
