You only need to force a rubber match with Fla and you get Skenes again in game 3 to win it all.

On 3 days rest? You are dreaming.

Tbh, lsu doesnt need Skenes to beat Florida. Our whole staff with floyd, hurd, ack, cooper, herring, guidry will be available on weekend.

been sayin

we can beat the gayturds with those guys

If you believe that to be the case, then you throw Skenes tonight.

Realistically, LSU will be a decided underdog in all 3 Florida games if you don't have Skenes.

I guess my point is that Florida is no more dangerous a team than Wake is, so why are some of our fans acting as if we'd be better off throwing trash against Wake because we'll need the big boys more against UF?

Florida is infinitely more dangerous with the wind behind the ball than Wake is with the wind pushing the ball back into the stadium.

i can promise you, on nearly 4 days rest, skenes will be the man in game 3

When you say nearly 4, you mean 3.

And, it won't happen. Asking Skenes to throw tonight on short rest could happen...but it won't happen twice back to back and on 3 days.

I can promise you that you are wrong.

With the way we've used our relief pitchers these last two nights who the heck do you think we have left to piece together 9 innings?

Exactly. The question is how big are his balls? Does he go conservative again by taking the win over WF by throwing Skenes and putting us at a decided disadvantage against Florida, or does he trust the bullpen which has already come up huge so far and put us in the best position to win it all?

There are two types of people arguing who to start tonight: those who want to do the safe thing and "see what happens" and those who want to go for it all or go down in flames. There's no "wrong" answer except in hindsight.

The problem is that if we win, it's not the last game of the year and we didn't hold anything back to throw at Florida.

If I was the coach, I would start Skenes today because I’m a human and am not dying with my shot still in the barrel.

But I think there is a decent analytic argument to not start him tonight. The only outcome that matters is winning the entire tournament. LSU needs to win 3 more games to do that. Skenes will pitch 1 of those games. If you think he can only go 5/6 innings tonight but could go 8/9 innings tomorrow then waiting makes sense.

I mean 96 hours assuming game 3 is a prime time game. It’s slated for Monday.

4 days rest is pretty standard in the mlb. You think Skenes inst taking the bump for all the marbles if he feels good?

I’m happy to leave the pitching decisions up to the guy who has us one win away from playing in the championship round of the CWS.

Having said that, if we don’t get one more win, it doesn’t really matter who might be available to pitch when.

What?

You mean that you are more afraid of Florida's offense than Wake's?

Batting Average: Wake Forest #26, Florida #86 (and before you say that's because of ACC pitching...LSU is #18)
Runs: Wake #2, Florida #10 (LSU #1)
Hits: Wake #14, Florida #19 (LSU #6)
Home Runs: Wake #5, Florida #3 (LSU #2) - effectively neutralized at CWS
OBP: Wake #5, Florida #84 (LSU #2)
Slugging: Wake #8, Florida #7 (LSU #5)

Florida is good - there's a reason they are #2. But there's also a reason Wake is #1 and LSU is #5. There are three really good teams left in Omaha, and our opponent tonight is Wake Forest. We have to beat them to face Florida. Wake is not some lightweight SunBelt school that's on a lucky streak; those guys can hit so I'd rather not find out just how much they can hit by being cute and starting Thatcher Hurd.

Wake is batting sub .200 and has zero HRs and has scored only 8 runs in the CWS.

Florida has 7 HRs and has scored 14 runs. They've looked like the better team and the more potent offense.
