It's pretty obvious. TJ is the more cerebral player and more mobile, all signs point to him taking over if necessary.

No, Johnson is a better runner than TJ

I'll give him the next 2 games to show improvements but when we have to go to Florida in a few weeks, it's going to be rough and at that point it will be time to make a decision on if he is our guy or if he needs to

Remember when true freshman Brandon Harris got his first start at Auburn in 2014?

Once again, what are you basing this off of?

No idea where they get the information from. I don't have the answer, but my guess would be that the kid that grew up under a dad that was an NFL QB, most likely would be the more polished in both mental part of the game and with footwork.

Not going to pile on the kid, but yes he was as pretty big contributor to the loss.

I hope he can shake off that start and get some confidence, because if not this is gonna be a really bumpy season.

Finley might not have the raw physical tools that Johnson does, but he clearly is light years ahead in being able to break down and understand defenses - the intangible stuff. So, in a pinch, I'd rather go with Finley.

That said, if Johnson can ever grasp the mental side of the game, look out.
Ummm.... are you sure you don't have this backwards?

"TJ knows that playbook 100%, in and out. He knows every route, every position, what the defense is doing, what the offense is supposed to do. We had Koy Moore out here a couple weeks ago and TJ was telling him all the routes back to back, and that's when I knew he was ready to play when Saturdays come."

After the game there was a guy in one of the many Brennan bashing threads that was supposedly putting quotes from texts he got from someone who is at the practices. I can't remember exactly what was said but it was something along the lines of Johnson looks like a freshman at times but also has the killer instinct a QB needs, in addition to making plays with his feet. Brennan not so much but at this point in time Brennan is better than Johnson.

I can't remember if TJ was mentioned or not.

Obviously I'm not taking what the guy said to heart but it goes against what the person in this thread is saying.

Cerebral? Maybe.

Mobile? Not hardly. Johnson is a faster runner than Burrow.

This is dumb.

But I’d say Johnson. Coaches like him the most, he looks more polished and more accurate than Finley

Agreed, and he didn't look like that last year. Weird.

I appreciate every player's commitment and effort. But I stand behind the program, not an individual player or coach.

If another player (at any position) can help us be more productive, that player should play.

Look, I hope Brennan lights it up against Vandy and thereafter. So yes, I'm not ready to pull him after just one game.

But if he looks tentative against Vandy, how much more time do you want to give him? We have Missouri after that, but then we get Auburn, Florida, and Bama 3 of our next 4 games.

If Brennan's not the answer, I'd rather identify that early and put in one of the freshmen and get them experience for next year.

We're already back to the backup QB talk? Damn...2019 was so long ago apparently.

I don't blame him for the loss but he certainly played a role in it. If he doesn't progress in coming weeks, we'll know what's up.

No you won't. It's like Jim Mora said, "You don't know, and you'll never know." Brennan might have played very well, and it was poor route running by his receivers that caused the problems. Or, it could have all been Brennan's fault. If I had to guess, most of the problems in the passing game were due to the receivers overrunning their spots and certainly dropping passes.

If Brennan is just not a start-able option, I'd hope to see us play both freshmen. season would be over anyway
