If Braelin Moore doesn’t come back should we flip Lamar Brown from DL to C?

I believe it was Blake Ruffino I was listening to a few days ago that brought up this possibility and he thought Brown had the ability to be an all SEC type player at center. Did he play both OL and DL in high school? One thing is for sure and that is we under no circumstances can enter the season with DJ Chester the starting center. I’d obviously love to keep Brown on defense to go with Anderson and Deuce Geralds but the heart of a good OL is a smart center.

The nice thing, it's not a decision "we" need to make, we're paying someone to make those decisions. Sit back and enjoy the games, life will be better for you....

Would think Kiffin does shopping for a Center in the portal...

Nope. Echols or Portal. Need talent and depth at DT. Especially a guy who can play strong side DE or a wide tech DT. Right now Dom McKinley and Walter Mathis are the only 2 guys returning with playing time. And McKinley is a flight risk with Ohio State signing his little bro.

I think there is more upside for Brown on the DL and that’s probably what we promised when recruiting him

It would be easier to shop an experienced C in the portal

Ain’t no way we’re taking a lineman rated as the number one ATH and making him a center.

I tend to agree with you but I would project Brown to play Gabe Reliford’s position in the end becoming his successor. Pictures of him he looks a little bit lighter than the 285 he’s listed but he could get there quickly in a college strength program. Right now he looks to be in the 265-270 range. It shouldnt be tough to get Moore to come back. He played hurt all year and it was noticeable in his play. Maybe a slight raise in NIL and the chance to put some more good tape out there for scouts gets him to return.

He would probably make a great center but to take a kid with that kind of size and athleticism off the d line would be a mistake

I think taking a true freshman who has never played center before and asking him to be your starting center is a recipe for disaster. I’d assume if Moore leaves, Kiffin will get a new center in the portal.

I really hope we can retain some of the guys on the Oline. I know as a unit they weren’t good but I think with a new coach and scheme they will look better.

I’ve never read any detailed scouting reports on LB. Which side of the line is he considered better on?

Brown needs to add weight and play OT.. which is where he’s played in the past. He’s tall enough IMO and he’s a freak athlete that was fun to watch skip pull around the edge .. I understand why he wants to play DT with his athleticism though..

He's a 5 star number one recruit. He's gonna play where he wants to play. And right now it doesn't look like that's the offensive line. He already said he wants to play on the defensive line so that's a done deal.
