Hoping Aranda here for many more years to come. But if he was to leave I'd look to these former NFL Def Coordinators.

1. Rex Ryan
2. Steve Spagnuolo
3. Mike Nolan
4. Jack Del Rio
5. Dom Capers

Was listening to Hester and Flester, one of them pointed out the fact that defense is losing t.o.p. and the other team is getting to run many more plays to find an opening, I believe in the Defense, they are just playing alot more spots than before, in a big game they'll show up

I peeked deep inside O’s binder one time. The plan in case Aranda leaves is to hire the corpse of Lane’s dad, Monte.....

LSU defense has declined consistently over the last four years.

LSU NCAA Total Defense Ranking
2016: 10th
2017: 12th
2018: 25th
2019: 43rd

Not sure who to replace him with but for 2.5 mil a year we can do better. Not sure where people come up with him being a Top DC? The numbers prove otherwise.

2018 it warped though

Outside the A&M game, an outlier we were only allowed 17.4 a game, which would have been good for top 10.

The defense won us 9/10 games last year. We just were the same when we started losing starters left and right.

We haven’t gotten a real pass rush since 2016

Last year we were still an amazing defense in 10/13 games.

Or it has to do with the fact that we whiffed big time on defensive line recruits. The defensive “decline” also corresponds with the time Ed Orgeron has been head coach. Like it or not, the hire, at the time was not considered a good hire by many. It was highly used against us in recruiting. Thankfully it appears that narrative was wrong and Orgeron appears to have been a good hire.

Go take a look at this recruiting class (along with the rumors of the ones who we have a great chance of landing this year). It’s an insane level of defensive talent coming in. If we continue to see a decline after this season, then it’s time to rethink some staff members on defense.

Lol Aranda is overrated and overpaid. He is not a top DC. Defense looks confused and out of place multiple plays in each game. Defense declining every year since hire. LSU is getting robbed. Fans outside of LSU all see Aranda is overrated.
However, if you guys feel he is worth every penny, a defensive scientist, guru, and etc, then by all means give another raise, extension, and HCIW. I have not once seen a dominant defense complete start to finish in a game under Aranda like Pelini and Chavis have before.

Lol he was the #1 DC in the power 5 over his career prior to this season statistically speaking. But you know don’t let facts get in the way of your fantasy.

Very good why do you think that matters? Do you know they’re running the same system he installed?

I wonder if these same loons wanted Saban fired in 02, the last time we had this many injuries and Saban was getting crushed at the end of the year? You know because he was a fraud too and an overrated defensive coach.

Bookmarking and cataloging this thread. Let's see if the guy with the most mentions here eventually becomes the guy your inside sources tell you we are basically locked in with.

The coach of the 73rd scoring defense in the country.

Interesting choice.

“But he had the #2 defense last year!”

He also had 2 first rounders on his DL.

Aranda hasn’t really had 1 since he’s been here. The last time he had someone who played like a first rounder was 2016, and we had a dominant defense.
