re: If 2-5 losses per year was good enough for Saban, why not Miles?

That's very suspicious.

Casually signed up awhile back to respond to something on the odb,but my account never got fully activated. Didn't give it much thought until the craziness on here recently motivated me enough to look into it and it turns out there was aproblem with the email confirmation. Got it fixed and now I'm fully active. Trust me, I'm no master mind and I don't have a dubious agenda.

I also don't have any sources, lol.

Saban gets plenty of passes for his losses (Ole Piss the past 2 years, LSU in 2011 among others)

good god. Saban lost to Ole Miss the last two years.... but made the playoffs both years (assuming they beat UF this weekend).

No reasonable fan expects their team to go undefeated every year. Nobody holds a coach to that rigid and absurd of a standard. The SEC is tough and teams have an off-week sometimes. Happens to nearly every team in the country.

And guess what, he won with Dinardo's players.

Saban won it in his fourth year of coaching....do you know how many Dinardo players started in 2003?

2010-2011 LSU was 24-3.

Just curious how many Saban players were still there from 2004?

Saban took crap and quickly turned it into a NC. Just like he did at Alabama. Miles took a top 4 program and slowly turned it into 4 th in the west. Take out the rent a wins and look at his 4 year record.

He won an SEC championship in 2001 with Dinardo's players. Read the post, man. It says "he won" as in he won games not just the 2003 Championship. And another thing on this Saban's players myth in '07; those guys were FRESHMEN under Nick in 2004. They spent Three years getting coached by Miles. So as a rational human being, you're trying to tell me that they learned all there was to know under Saban as freshman when they didn't even play much. Then for the next three years they learned nothing from Miles but were able to win a title? You people are nuts.

SABAN had to rebuild this program genius - Miles was left with a GOLD mine - new facilties, a renewed powerhouse reputation for recruiting, COX communication center - etc etc ... Alabama will not settle for mediocrity I assure you - the second their program starts tanking he will be gone too.

See previous post about why Saban was attracted to LSU in the first place. It wasn't because we were crap. I also don't think saying Miles took over a top 4 program is a fair assessment of where LSU was at that time. But you also think Miles has run the LSU football program into the ground over the last 11 years, so I doubt your assessment skills.

We would be on championship number 4 with Saban by now. Fact. 5 is debatable.

All this post tells me is that 13 people don't know what a fact is.

You guys realize Bama has the refs in their back pocket, Mark emmert not investigating them, and the REC in the conference office?

It's because of what Saban is doing at Alabama. Losing to UAB and the 2004 season was a debacle that very much resembled the 2014 season Miles just had, with a RS Freshman QB that showed flashes, but had everyone wondering if he was going to develop at al

What about the 4 loss 2000 team or the 5 loss 2002 team? Saban's first 3 years he had some of the most talented players to ever wear purple and gold at their position.

A bit of hyperbole, perhaps. But 92 yards of offense in a national championship game should stand as the worst in any football division, pro or college.

This year we put up 182 yards against Bama. What are we doing.

HELLO!! Dinardo won with CURLY HALLMAN recruits ,when Dinardo was Hired, and went on the bring back the MAGIC TOUR, that was with Hallman recruits! he lost and was FIRED With HIS PLAYERS. IF MILES WOULD have been hired on 2000, he would have been fired in 3 years. Dinardo or Hallman would have done a better Job following Saban than Miles has done. Miles has left more on the table than any coach in LSU history and we will never get these wasted years back and without any Saban recruits on his roster he has a losing Bowl record and ONLY 1 SEC Ch.

Saban MADE 21st century LSU football. 21st century LSU football MADE Miles. If Miles had come to LSU in 2000 he would have had a few crappy seasons and then been shite-canned.

Why are people so uninformed that they don't recognize the difference between the state of the program in 2000 and the state of the program in 2005. I've said this before, but again: in 2000, lsu was forty years removed from its last nc, twelve years removed from its last secc, and was coming off back to back losing campaigns, notching only one sec victory in 1999. By contrast, in 2005, LSU was two years removed from its last nc/seccg and was coming of a 6-2 sec record. Not remotely comparable.
