I was there! KOR and HATT put on one hell of a party, too!!! 2003 is my favorite season. I went to almost all of the games. Couldn't swing Arizona and one other road game. Went to the SECCG and BCSNCG. Ahh, the glory days!!!

If we still have Miles, Cam, and Peveto around to frick up the offense and special teams we aren't winning the SECW. I am excited about the defense for the first time in a while, though.

A system that would have a team playing in more than one bowl game would really change what a bowl game is supposed to be. I think that is part of the inertia that will have to be overcome to go beyond a 4 team playoff in the FBS.

Sounds good to me. You are right in that there is not going to be any major restructuring, at least not any time soon.

Perhaps a major restructuring is in order, as some other posters have suggested. Let's split the FBS up into two leagues with two separate championships. Have inter-league play during the season so the "power conference" teams can get enough home games. As long as we have a huge league with a major talent gap between the top and bottom conferences, the championship process is always going to be a bit of a mess.

Force all teams to join a conference first and foremost. Just play conference games and make all conferences have a championship game for conferences that have separate divisions.
There's no way to just play conference games. The big time programs aren't going to accept playing six home and six away games every year. They need a minimum of seven home games with eight home games at least every other year. That means the ability to schedule OOC teams (and even out of league, which I don't like) from weaker conferences...the "cupcakes" and "rent-a-wins".
That produces a large conference with a big difference between the top and bottom. It doesn't really make sense to enforce any playoff scheme designed for a system with built-in parity measures onto the FBS with its inherent disparity.
I do agree that the "power" conferences should all have divisions and a conference championship game. I don't like seeing Oklahoma sitting on its arse and cruising into the playoff while other teams have to play their way in for an extra week.
I'd like to go back the BCS but expand it to four teams.

LSU wins ugly. LF and a couple of others look ready to play, but the team overall doesn't.

What is ATVS?

It may or may not be stupid but where we finish among our immediate peers is at least interesting to me. Comparing the results in different seasons is not the goal here, but certainly all seasons are not the same.

finished 3-5 that year. How the hell is THAT possible?!
Because three west teams finished 2-6 in 08.

That is the current trend. We will see if he can reverse it next year.

ot that it matters--they both suck, but we finished tied for 3rd this year and tied for 4th last year. Tie breakers are meant determine #1, they don't distinguish 3rd from 4th. Plenty of reasons to criticize Miles, lets just be intellectually honest
I chose to apply the tie breaker because imo it gives a more accurate ordering, official or not.

2016 is an important year for the program.
You are correct sir!

I know, and since you brought up Saban, here are Bama's numbers:
1992 1
1993 2
1994 1
1995 3
1996 1
1997 6
1998 3
1999 1

2001 3
2002 1
2003 5
2004 4
2005 3
2006 4

2008 1
2009 1
2010 4
2011 2
2012 1
2013 2
2014 1
2015 1
Overall avg: 2.5
Saban avg: 2
Saban has the same average as he did at LSU. Bama's overall is 2.5 vs 3 for LSU. Not sure how significant it is. FWIW

I think the averages are kind of interesting.

or suck it up....stop whining like a bunch of bitches....and hope he does well because that means LSU does well.
I stopped going to games when Miles got his last extension. I watch every game on TV and cheer like hell for the Tigers. I don't boo or throw shite at the TV, although I let a few expletives fly unless the wife has company in the house. I don't whine and I'm nobody's bitch. As long as Les is the coach I do hope he does well because I bleed purple and gold and hope our Tigers whip the snot out of every opponent.

Miles has my support. I don't think he will win another SEC title
Well, there ya go, and you have a lot of company. If I truly thought someone was not capable of doing their job at a high level, I would not support their continued employment in that position. I don't think Miles will win another title, either, which is one reason why I can't in good conscience support him. I want more out of the program, but maybe I'm just a dreamer and should just accept the fact that LSU is not capable of winning football championships. But all is well. rah rah sis boom bah
