If 2-5 losses per year was good enough for Saban, why not Miles?
Saban's record at LSU:
2000 8-4 finished AP 22
2001 10-3 AP 7
2002 8-5 finished unranked
2003 13-1 AP 2 (BCS 1)
2004 9-3 AP 16

Miles at LSU:
2005 11-2 AP 6
2006 11-2 AP 3
2007 12-2 AP 1
2008 8-5 unranked
2009 9-4 AP 17
2010 11-2 AP 8
2011 13-1 AP 2
2012 10-3 AP 14
2013 10-3 AP 14
2014 8-5 unranked
2015 8-3 so far, currently ranked 23

Miles has a better record and more top 10 finishes yet many can't get over Saban leaving and wish Miles would have gotten the boot. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Also, can anyone explain to me how 2014 and 2015 are any different than 2008 and 2009 (in terms of overall performance and wanting to send Miles packing)?

It's because of what Saban is doing at Alabama. Losing to UAB and the 2004 season was a debacle that very much resembled the 2014 season Miles just had, with a RS Freshman QB that showed flashes, but had everyone wondering if he was going to develop at all.

Miles' tenure has generally been better than Saban's, but if Saban had coached all the Miles years as well, people would be thinking about a change based on recent performance.

Mark Richt was an improvement over Jim Donnan no matter how many times he lost 3 or 4 games, but UGA fired him.

Saban resurrected the program, won an SEC title in year 2 and an SEC and national title in year 4

Miles took over a loaded program and has had success. 2 SEC titles and a NC

Pretty simple reason to wonder why losing more games was acceptable after the 90s compared to post 03

I don't think Saban does what he did here without DiNardo's '95-'97 success. He was the definition of mediocre at Michigan State.

23-4 with two BCS bowl wins and a national championship in 2006 and 2007.

Compared to 20-6 with a Outback Bowl win and Peach Bowl loss in 2012 and 2013.

Numbers don't lie, but accountants do.

When Saban was at LSU, there was no one program and no one coach that was dominating the SEC.

Miles is at LSU when Saban is dominating at Alabama.

I'm not a Miles a basher at all.

But If you look at the trend, it's easy to understand the frustration.

DiNardo didn't leave the cupboard totally bare. But Saban was exactly handed the same program as Les.

I don't know what all went down in the days leading up to Championship game with Bama, but Les refusing to go to Lee (the guy that led them all season) probably still ruffles some feathers.

The game against TN when Erik Ainge had to leave the game while LSU was up by 20, only to lose our own former 3rd string QB (Clausen) still makes me shake my head.

Not when they went 10-2 in 1999. They hadn't won more than 8 in a season since 1987.

We would be on championship number 4 with Saban by now. Fact. 5 is debatable.

everything would be the same if saban was still at lsu and miles was at al!

the rec spends 10x the $ for girlfriends' cars!

sec offices are WHERE?

al knows how to spend.

read the billy cannon book!

always been that way!

lsu was very lucky to get a principled man like les!

Once it was 12-0 or 15-0, I didn't see how it would have hurt to give Lee a try. But before that point, I understood the reluctance given that the offense had struggled so much against Alabama with Lee in the first game.

The 2005 Tennessee game is not something I blame on Les. It was September 26 and only our second game due to the hurricanes (and only Les' second game at LSU). It can throw a defense off to change quarterbacks on top of that. They had a great game plan for Ainge.

I mean if we want to play that game, Miles has a 2 loss national title...

I'm not a miles hater, but the programs had different expectations pre and post saban
