This will be our first fall camp under Kiffin and excitement is brewing.

More of a nitty-gritty question… but anyone familiar with how Kiffin has handled load management and rest/injury concerns for fall with OM or FAU?

I feel like under BK we did a relatively good job of this and coming into the season healthy.

Felt like O did a decent job as well with this. Les was the king of beating the hell out of his teams before week 1 which was frustrating.

Future is bright!

It's camp. There's no load management (within reason). The camp injuries happen or they don't...just like in Spring.

I think with all the coaches allowed on staff now and the work they have been putting in, I think fall ball will be about fine tuning and chemistry.

I get it, camp is a time for hard work and things happen.

Just curious since we have new S&C staff and HC who has input.

BK was actually fairly smart by putting in programs like slowly acclimating to weather by increasing outdoor time incrementally, etc.
going shells some days, some days no contact etc.

This wasn't an issue for camp. This was the issue during the season. Les would beat up teams during the week before games. When O took over in '16 he shortened the practices which gave the guys their legs back. But camp being physical isn't the issue.

When you're leading up to the season you want to be more physical to get ready to play. Then the week of the game you can lighten the load. I'm not even a Les Miles fan but this is just n

It wasn't frustrating when they won those tough Week 1 games was it? Especially when you consider any one loss could mean season over.

And it largely showed in our lack of preparedness for week 1 under BK. BK gave Jack Marucci a little too much leeway with injury analytics and load management. It lead to extremely short practices and an out of shape team. Yes, we were relatively healthy going into the season, but it showed that we didn’t get enough reps.

This is a new offensive staff and the team needs all the reps they can get. I hope Kiffin works their arse off in fall camp.

If you want to be a physical tough football team you have to practice that way.Les did that ,way to much, but they were physical.Im waiting to see if LKs practices are physical ,we will see Sept 5th.

Two a days. Big cat drills. Run them into the ground before the end of August.

They’ll wish they played soccer by the end of camp.

I disagree. Load mgt is such a big deal that they now monitor just about every stat possible on each individual player.

I think the decision of how to handle fall camp is one of the more challenging ones for coaches.

It didn't become a huge deal until we got all of this technology that enabled us to monitor so many different parameters.

Go back to puking in the grass and getting back to work

Maybe healthy but they looked woefully unprepared at the start of every season under BK.

Hopefully unlike BK their first tackling experience of the entire year isn’t the season opener against a P4 opponent

So you want your defensive linemen and linebackers hitting Leavitt and the RBs full-speed in camp?
Because we open with a P4 opponent... again.

Which leads to a side question- is Kiffin even here if we scheduled sanely, and opened at home with a creampuff game 1 like most power teams? Think before you answer: Kelly would have been 10-2, 10-2, and 9-3, with a trip to Atlanta, a home win vs Bama, and a Heisman winner the first 3 seasons. Last year we actually won the P4 opener, and it didn't help the team.
Personally, I think it buys Kelly more time, even though beating a Sunbelt team instead of losing to an ACC or Big 10 team isn't really an improvement.

Not the QB obviously but the other guys yes I want them full speed. BK’s teams were soft af especially on the offensive line outside of 2023

We were objectively charmin soft as a program under BK. I never want to see that again. Win or lose, opponents should hate the idea of playing LSU bc they know it’s going to be a full week of recovery afterwards. We must get back to that.
