Ole Miss was the last team into the NCAA tourney a few years ago and won it all. Not saying that’ll happen, but the team has the talent to make a good run and create momentum that’s been lost in the program.

Formula for success:

Throw strikes
Play defense
Situational hitting

Hopefully you feel he had? Of all the 40+ humans in that dugout, CJJ is the one that will 100% never give up.

My son's middle school basketball team was down by 25-30 in one of the first games of the season. Coach was as intense as ever; coached until the very end, even though the other team's press decimated us.

Beat that same team in the semi-final.

Coach never quit coaching.

Gotta love it!

Before that when he was on the field talking to the home plate ump halfway up the 1st base line, the ump must have said what do you want to challenge and you could read Jay’s lips. “The whole fricking play”. I laughed and hit rewind to watch again.

Good because there has been a shitload of nonsense from this team this year.

No i dont think he stopped coaching or trying to win. I think he very likely had internally resigned to the fact that this season wasnt happening. Im not simply making this up. I watched his interviews where he more and more started commenting on what needed to be done in the offseason vs. right now. Which is something ive never seen him do and telling if you listen to him.

This isnt some veiled criticism. Its not a criticism at all. Im the biggest JJ stan on this entire site (or at worst tied for it).

I wouldn't be surprised to see the boys slip a banana peel under jays foot when runs out to argue a call, then jake brown runs out and motorboats him while hes laying on the ground.

Only took three straight sweeps…… I really can’t believe we got swept 3 straight series in the year 2026.

Arrambide, post game ,said that when CJJ gets into it with an ump, it "reallly fires up the whole team. He "loves it".

You have to choose your moments with that kind of thing. If you do it every game it loses its desired effect.

Love the optimism of this thread .Motivation has its place, menta perspective is also an important component but at the end of the day I'm a pragmatist.

Jay has few options at this point of the season to turn this team in the CWS direction. He knows that and there is very little room for error.
