You literally said it’s a “different era” then used “different era” as a crutch. Something went terribly wrong. I’ll trust the coach with the skins on the wall to correct it.

I'll sit back and wait for you to point out where I said JJ should be fired.

Then what does unacceptable mean? What action should be taken if a coach’s results are not acceptable?

“The program” is in a free fall? Do tell?

Currently. 5 sweeps, 0-15 against SEC winning teams, 9-21 in league play. Yes, that’s free fall.

Unacceptable means when you have the money, resources, facilities and a championship winning HC..... you should be able to assemble an ACCEPTABLE team. An ACCEPTABLE team.... meaning a team that wins when they should and put a competitive team on the field every weekend.

And what action should be taken if this does not occur? Or do you think the school will be willing to ACCEPT it?

Maineri was a beta, and so were his teams.

Except that he was talking about the offense and the offense has played well for the last month.

For this season, sure. But “the program” is in a free fall? Sorry, no

If that’s true, isn’t he right? Some people hear criticism and try harder to get better. Says something about them if they got butt hurt and quit.

He also only won one ship and lived off that for a while. I don’t get caring about bottoming out when it’s clear this team isn’t good and not going to make any serious run this season.

Skip has said what Jay has done is even more impressive given this new era.

Mainieri was a great coach. He just was a lazy recruiter. He could milk 9 innings out of a pitching staff.

No I don’t think he forgot how to coach baseball but something is definitely not clicking there

No you can’t, the pumpers cannot counter any of the legitimate concerns with anything other than “2 of the last 3 nattys”.

It's very easy to say this when you either completely ignore the posts that refute your points, or just deny their existence.

1. Limited portal ability due to timing of the 2025 post season.
2. For the first time in Jay's tenure, the lower level portal guys didn't come close to translating in the SEC.
3. Injury to Cooper Moore, putting unexpected stress on the inexperienced bullpen.
4. Injuries to position players that disrupted any sort of rhythm the team could have possibly got it.
5. Defensive miscues that cost the team multiple early conference games.
6. Injury to Casan Evans, who no matter how poor you perceive him to be, caused additional stress on an already strained bullpen.
7. Jake Brown injury.
8. Multiple Chris Stanfield injuries.
9. Multiple Omar Serna injuries.
10. Less money for the roster.

The portal is a crap shoot. No one would have expected Yorke to have the season he had. No one would have expected Simpson's power to just not translate at all. We were already handcuffed in the portal to start due to a reduced rev share situation. One more starting pitcher flips this entire season.

It was one of those seasons where just about every thing that could have gone wrong, went wrong. This team lost a TON of close games. Law of averages tells you that rarely happens. Happened this year. Is what it is. Oh well.

The program is currently in free fall and we won’t know if any fix is working until opening SEC series next year.

A lot of you people are incapable of differentiating a program from a season.

The SEC (and NCAA) that Paul Mainieri coached in from 2007-2021 was entirely different than the SEC and NCAA that Jay Johnson has coached in over the last 5 years.

Paul never had to rebuild entire rosters in one offseason. He could stash talent for years before they saw the field, and they didn't really have an option.

Now, Mikey Ryan doesn't want to wait a year to play SS? He's gone. That didn't happen in 2018. Mason Katz and Greg Deichmann don't become an All American at LSU in 2026. Kramer Robertson doesn't wait around for 3 years to get playing time. Cole Freeman and Raph Rhymes never even join the roster.

It's different. PM showed everyone how different it was when he took the SC job purely out of jealousy.

It’s a blanket and modern excuse used for every sport and it’s only the current generation who started with this crap. No two seasons are the same so if you wanted to you could slap it on anytime you wanted which is what people do now. This has nothing to do with JJ or CPM or any coach, it’s about the pussification and excuse making of the modern fan.
