Defense and Friday and Saturday pitching was above average. If this was the case with this team the hitting they could be patient with. But all these factors combined with no visual player leadership or not true team identity is the concern so for early this season.Lets keep watching and see how it turns out..This may indeed turn out to be a building season towards next year though a lot wont admit to hit.

Man, I feel much better about our top 2 starters than I do the rest of the team.

Is that really what you think is wrong?

The fact we lost this many OOC games before conference play for the first time since '07 nullifies that this season is due to expectations. Now, I do agree Jay winning 2 Championships the last 3 years has risen expectations the expectations for LSU should always be getting to Omaha. And right now things are a complete struggle. Jay is the best in the business and will have plenty of time to get this team clicking at the right time.

I feel better about all three weekend starters than probably any year under Jay so far.

How about we judge Jay's team on the end of the season, instead of daily criticisms. We know what happened 2 of the last 3 years. Let's let Jay marinate before he cooks at the end of the year.
This board afford a 2 time national champion a bit of patience? Hell no! They got their coach pitch baseball team to the finals 7 of the last 10 years and won it 5 times! Jay doesnt know what he's doing. Ronnie from Broussard does, though.

Well that’s crazy talk.

Last years 1-2 punch plus Shores/Evans as the 3rd was better, imo.

How about this team being built up tonthe fan base and Johnson had his part in that too. This is LSU base ball built by the GOAT of baseball, creating the expectations of being in the hunt every year.

At this point in the season, Evans had not started a game yet. And Shores hadn't quite melted down until SEC play started.

So, I concede for a week, unless someone melts down against Vandy.

So they are stinking it up because we want and expect them to win?

At this time of the year last year LSU did not have several stud pitchers. Eyanson struggled until about halfway through the season and Shores struggled mightily until the end of the regular/start of postseason when he turned into the 1st rd talent we all knew he could be.

Evans, Moore and Schmidt are all 3 capable of being an Ace level pitcher. All 3 are also pitching better now than either Eyanson and Shores was at this time last year.

That’s not true. Also, our starting pitchers are performing just fine. Evans had a rough start but hasn’t been bad the past few games. Moore is consistent as can be. And Schmidt has been pretty awesome so far.

I wouldn’t call 2024 that off of a year.
that team was solid by the end.

Going on the road and losing a regional is definitely an off year for LSU. Plus the start to SEC play was atrocious

When you play or coach for LSU baseball, the expectations every year is Omaha. If a player or coach does not understand that or want those expectations, this is not the place for them.

Look at the billboard. The name of the field. The players retired numbers. It is legacy that can be for a coach or player if they pour everything they have to get better.

Right now some of those players are feeling the pressure bc of expectations and it is only going to get ramped up higher bc of SEC play.

I trust Jay but we can criticize those players not playing well. Hopefully they get better. If not it is a long season. It is not bc of fans expectations at all what is wrong with the team.
