If there was any game to prove the doubters wrong, it's this one. Especially with all of the mock drafts littered with Clemson players in the first round.

I really have no clue how this game is going to play out. I would lean Clemson given a lot of the intangibles (at Clemson, losing 5 straight openers, uncertainty on our O-Line and only optimism at this point that the defense will return to its standard without having seen a snap).

Really hope that we are pleasantly surprised and we come out firing on all cylinders with creative play-calling and beat their arse. But until LSU prove me wrong, I am tapering my expectations.

Quick passes and misdirection running to control possession and get in rhythm. Move the chains and win even just field position while wearing them down.

Defense finally plays assignment ball to win more than they don't. That’s what we need against Clemson.

I think we have the talent to beat them and we will be one of the best teams Clemson plays this year. I think we will have a really good team this year and wouldn’t argue against us making the playoffs. But Kelly’s weakness in his openers hasn’t been because of talent but his preparation and having his teams ready to play in our first games.our opponents have played some of their best games against us in week one.

Speed all over the field, I think Cade is going to be running for his life. We need a little running game going and Nuss will light them up. Weak secondary play by Clemson will be deference.

Outside of a Nuss injury... there are no excuses this season. While I don't think this season seals Kelly's fate.. its all on him.

I think everyone just knew 2019 was going to be a special year because we saw how far along Burrow came with Jefferson and Chase in 2018.

No you didn’t. Nobody saw the explosion of the 2019 offense coming. It was unimaginably good and something never seen before at LSU.

Your post is a textbook example of revisionist history.

Winning wouldn’t be that big a surprise. Smashing them would. Sort of like how lsu humbled Oregon in 2011. We need some of that.

If the cancer is gone, we win.

It’s probably not 100% but I still go back to the Ryan Clark ‘sequestering’.

Clemson getting smashed first game isn't unprecedented. Georgia beat essentially the same Clemson team by 31 last August-- Clemson smushed like Coach O at a wedding reception!

But-- it's a true ROAD game, not neutral site, and Brian Kelly ain't no Kirby Smart.

Cade better be willing to block for Nuss’s life. The most significant differential, preseason, is Clemson DL with TWO All Americans vs four new starters on the LSU OL.

QB - First team AA vs second team AA.
RB - slight advantage LSU.
WR - Clemson has 3 returning WRs, but LSU also has talent. Does LSU have timing being transfers.
OL - ?? Vs ??
DL - While LSU will be MUCH improved here vs Known commodities in Clemson. Adv Clemson.
LB - Adv LSU, but not the difference many think.
DB - Clemson has a returning talent in Terrell. Overall LSU has a slight advantage here. Hopefully they gel as a group.

Looking at Clemson vs SEC recently…..there seems to be a talent difference. Home game for Clemson. Love this game.

I expect Klubnik to blink first. LSU wins a very tight game.

I think LSU loses the opener, TD melts, fans chant “Fire Kelly” at the home game on 9/6, LSU wins 11 straight games, wins the SEC Championship, beats ND in the playoffs, wins the natty.

We should be playing Duke, Texas Tech, Baylor, Kansas to start the season.
Instead we start @Clemson.

People will call for Kelly's firing after the Clemson game (because they are all mensa grade brainiacs), but please understand

2020: @Miss State ( Mike Leach schools Bo Pelini)
2021: @UCLA (West coast travel. That game was on the greatest head coach in school history, the cerebral Ed O)
----
In the Kelly era:
2022: His first game, with a entirely new team, new QB who had never played together...FSU had a game before this to work out the chinks in their scheme and players...This was a 10-3 FSU team

2023: In Florida, playing FSU (who went 13-1)

2024: USC, That one was on him, considering USC was not a good team. But please understand USC is a powerhouse blue blood program. When you are going 2000 miles to play powerhouse, 2 time zones away in the first game replacing a Heisman / NFL 1st round / NFL starting QB and 2 NFL first round WR, it is a hard game.

2025: You are going to play another recent powerhouse lead by a NFL 1st round QB, a roster loaded with NFL players, not to mention a coach who has won 2 NC and took his team to 4 national championship games.

Our scheduling has always been bad...

[1] We got stuck playing Florida every year during the Spurrier years...and the Mayer years....
[2] We were the only school who had to play Florida, Alabama, Auburn every single year.

But this...is like shooting yourselves in the foot...

When we walk into Clemson stadium and they play the tempo version of the Tiger Rag, that crowd and those players will be sky high...They will play lights out....

You brainiacs will say $95 million....blah...blah...blah...
You cannot give $95 million and ask a man to fly to the moon... He cannot.

.....Not every problem can be solved by throwing money.
