I think our plan was to bring Chaisson to hurry the qb. This was not very effective and a typical LSU blitz occasionally would have helped. It couldn’t hurt. At least we know this before playing ala. Tua will be much like ehlinger with better protection. We have to take some chances on blitzes. Hopefully we will start working on this now.

In fairness, the sips dropped a pass in the end zone.

Herman dictated the style of game. He just didn't have the talent to beat LSU.

They did indeed drop that pass. But the point is kind of that maybe Texas wouldn't have been in position to score so often, if we had been more aggressive.

Herman did dictate the style of play against our D, but the object of coaching is to make adjustments to disallow your opponent the comfort of walking up the field at their leisure. The blitzes worked. But Aranda seemed to keep caving to some irrational fear of bringing "too much" pressure. We literally had nothing to lose, when we could not stop them the entire second half. That's my beef.

Texas has a very good oline. As good as anyone outside of UGA

Understood, but that's beside the issue at hand. The fact that they have a good O-line is why the four man rush was useless. But, and I know I'm repeating myself, LSU was successful when blitzing.

At some point, you have to throw caution to the wind when nothing else is working.

More than "a few" in IMO.

4th down calls and timeout before 2nd half killed them

I'm deeply disturbed by this and won't say another word about it. But, this is not a new problem.

Herman is a good coach. We missed hiring him as a our coach and hired a shrimp boat captain but CEO has turned out to be a good hire by Alleva so far.

His weakness is his going for it twice on the two mentality. There are times to gamble and times to put points on the board.

To much riverboat in him.

Texas was holding on every play

My favorite is the OT riding Chaisson down and falling in top of him in front of a ref. Then later they call holding on LSU.

He did a good job of getting mismatches with the RB for big plays. I thought Chaisson had a good game. He did get a sack and made a couple of good plays against the run. But Herman is a good coach who took advantage of our aggressiveness. He dialed up a good play on their 4th down TD. We had no safeties in the picture on that one.

Everyone is freaking out about the lack of pressure, but I think they were just trying to keep containment on Ehlinger.

This is correct. They were trying to collapse the pocket and avoid allowing him to scramble. The bet was that our DBs could cover, and they mostly did. The problem was that our LBs weren't able to cover underneath.

Boy, are you right. Texas's 52 held Chaisson's jersey all night in front of everybody.

Herman is for real, but did you see the odd interview with him just before the 3rd qtr? Looked like he was about to cry and laugh or hide at the same time. Strange.

I really thought in the first half Aranda was trying to show them looks and then we’d come out in the 2nd half in those same looks but start blitzing his arse, but it never happened. Aranda dropped the ball last night IMO.. They ate us alive running the ball and at the line of scrimmage. No pass rush at all and only bringing 4 guys wasn’t cutting it. I’m happy with the win, but expected our D to be MUCH better than that.
