Dropping charges if he doesn’t pursue regaining possession of the gun

While I agree that it is confiscation of the weapon and its dumb, but its essentially same as paying a fine for charges being dropped. Good lesson on picking your battles here. Fight to get gun back ans charges possibly being reinstated causing more harm to his reputation with draft in just over a year or give up the gun. Seems like an easy choice. He can buy a new gun if he wants one. Im sure he has the money.
bullshite, if you don't charge me with shite, give me my shite back. That's theft. But of course, it's the government so they can do whatever the frick the want.

So why are they keeping it? Besides the government being pieces of shite

Thank You for the correct info on CC and open carry .
Except it wasn't correct. You cannot open or concealed carry on a parade route in New Orleans.

Why are they keeping his gun? That’s bullshite. I understand it’s not worth fighting over but that’s bullshite

Because he was carrying it illegally. He has zero leverage

Les, just out of curiosity, assuming it's not Mardi Gras, can one carry while walking around in the French Quarter if they have a CC permit? I saw someone in another thread stating that you cannot carry in the French Quarter, period. Because you are "around" alcohol. Seems like a crazy law but NOLA can be crazy. Is it true?

If he is not getting charged with anything, he should get his property back. I bet you love civil asset forfeitures.

It was a deal they made. He can get his property back, but then he's getting charged.

Are you just dumb or what? The city has the option to prosecute the case. The defendant was offered a deal which it sounds like he took. He could refuse the deal and get prosecuted and lose more money and possibly his freedom. In offering the deal the prosecutors get a gun off the street and out of a young persons hand while closing a case…

Yes, I know, I can read. You’re missing the point.

The point is, moron, that the option for the state to keep his firearm should never be on the table unless they’re going to charge him. If they’re not charging him then they have no need to keep the firearm as evidence against him in a trial and therefore have no basis to keep his firearm. It’s his property, not the state’s.

Are you?
They will gladly charge him if he wants the gun back.
He has a choice.
Some part of this is confusing to you though

Yes, and if you see no problem with this then you're just an idiot. How anyone could be ok with what the government is doing regarding his firearm is beyond me as an American. But then again, there are complete helpless boobs in every society like yourself, Lester.

as a criminal defense lawyer of 25 years, you're truly a fricking idiot.
carry on...
carry on...

Your comparing war to a trip to New Orleans?
. If you don’t feel safe going to Mardi Gras in New Orleans and feel the need to carry a gun, why go and risk anything as a college athlete with a bright future.
I’m not anti gun. But he’s a student athlete not a soldier.
