Can’t carry a weapon concealed at the parades even if you have a permit. NOPD arrested a lot of people for that this weekend

This is a nothingburger based on everything I've read. Got caught with a concealed weapon because Malik wasn't smart enough to keep it fully concealed in his pocket. If those cops searched half the population there they wouldn't be able to book anyone due to the cell house being full.

What is the new gun law in Louisiana?
According to state law, an individual needs to be at least 21 years old before they are permitted to conceal carry a gun. However, you can get a gun at 18 years old but you cannot conceal carry a gun at that age. For conceal carrying, you must be at least 21 years of age.

Can enlist in the military and get married at 18 but can't drink or get conceal carry (and not even buy cigs anymore)

While I agree that it is confiscation of the weapon and its dumb, but its essentially same as paying a fine for charges being dropped. Good lesson on picking your battles here. Fight to get gun back ans charges possibly being reinstated causing more harm to his reputation with draft in just over a year or give up the gun. Seems like an easy choice. He can buy a new gun if he wants one. Im sure he has the money.

A new neighbor was working security contract for Mardi Gras and he informed me that he had some kind of device that could identify handguns. He was a plain clothes security guard walking through the crowds and when his device alerted him then he would alert NOPD abd they would investigate.
This is what I was told and I did not see this device.
