If you don't want your gun taken by the government, then don't carry it illegally.
let me say first that I am happy that this isn't going to ruin Malik's career.
BUT As a New Orleans citizen, it honestly pisses me off that they let 15 people completely off the hook so long as they don't get their guns back. Its why the criminals are so bold, they know that the DA won't hold anyone accountable.

Can you open carry in NOLA?

I don't think but I am not an expert on the gun laws. I believe You need a CCP to carry but maybe that doesn't apply to open carry?
My point is less about this specific law and more about the DA constantly giving criminals slaps on the wrist which makes them more likely to repeat their crimes. Cuz Why not? you won't get in any real trouble for it anyway.

bullshite, if you don't charge me with shite, give me my shite back. That's theft.
No. No it’s not. It’s submitting to drop the charge and is technically no different than going to traffic school to avoid paying a fine (except this would have been a felony so it’s way more serious with far more serious consequences). He can go get another gun if he wants, he just willingly surrendered THAT gun.

The point is, moron, that the option for the state to keep his firearm should never be on the table unless they’re going to charge him.
False. They can seize anything they want that is evidence of a crime and then choose not to prosecute for whatever reason they want. The gun is that evidence.
Many a gun have been seized by wildlife game and fish without prosecution ever taking place.

No one “took his gun away”. He willingly surrendered it. He could have just as easily not taken the deal (and the gun would have been seized anyway and he would end up with a criminal record). No one “took his gun”. FACT!

How can this be true?
How can it be true? It’s the law. Concealed carry is prohibited at “A parade or demonstration for which a permit is issued by a governmental entity;”

It is an open carry state. As long as you don't conceal a firearm you can carry on your hip. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That’s not the case for certain situations such as parades. Carrying a weapon within 1,000 ft of a parade is illegal.

To me the point that no one seems to care about is what a mindless 19 yr old thinks he is going to do with the gun. Like do you want to be on the highway with a 12 yr old driving a Mustang GT. NO good can come of it. Too many people who legally carry a gun, especially to a drunken party, are just dying to come up with a reason to use it. Some people fantasize about women, and some fantasize about living in the old west.
