people say jamarcus wasn't a student of the game because it became apparent he flat out sucked in the nfl.

So, Kellen Moore who went 4/14 in his NFL debut is not a student of the game because he sucked in the NFL?

Is Jon Gruden not a student of the game because he sucked as a pro?

Is Sean Payton not a student of the game because he sucked as a pro?

'll say matt mauck is smart because he's a fricking practicing dentist.

That may be. But he wasn't a smart Quarterback. By the way: STUDENT OF THE GAME RIGHT HERE!

which one of those guys had half the talent of jamarcus?

and matt mauck was never as good as flynn or jamarcus. i never even said flynn was better than jamarcus. all i've said is jamarcus played off talent alone, which he had an ungodly amount, and it finally caught up to him.

it's not secret that Jamarcus didn't have a work ethic. It doesn't mean he didn't know a lot about football or wasn't a "mentally" strong QB.

He just got paid and got lazy.

At LSU he picked up blitzes well, and he read the defense pretty damn good to be the best QB in the SEC in 2006.

Complete and utter bullshite.

He did get away with a few throws because of his arm strength, but he improved every year and he became a number 1 pick in the NFL draft and led us to a BCS bowl game.

You don't have success at the QB position based on talent alone in major college football. Even Vince Young had to learn to become a better QB. He wasn't very good his first year or two at UT.

Under your premise, he should've been great every year since he didn't work to improve.

Honestly, as a seahawks fan, I'm hoping Jackson gets the gig.

Flynn's arm is plenty strong enough.

Don't believe the coachspeak from Carroll. Flynn is the starter, and for good reason.
Hell, Russell Wilson is a better option than Jackson.

Just image if we had the run game in 06 that we did last year. No way we lose to Auburn, though we still may have lost at UF. We just seemed to be snake bit that game.

Meh. His ceiling is still Matt Cassell.

They both need a perfect system to succeed. FLynn may have that with Carroll.

we'll see.

I still think if the seahawks are in a position in the draft to take a great QB like Barkley or Wilson or Landry Jones, they should unless Flynn plays lights out.

Dude, if you consider Landry Jones a great NFL prospect, then I don't know what to tell you.

And the Seahawks will be nowhere near bad enough to be able to get Barkley.

Observations on that video

1. Helluva game... awesome 4th-and-9 conversion with 2:13 left. Doucet was more pumped after that than he was catching the game-winning TD.

2. The players seemed to have more fun after big plays. Many of those celebrations would get a 15-yard penalty today. Sad.

3. Jamarcus had an absolute cannon for an arm.

4. How about Moo St beating Bama on the ticker? Shows you how much things can change in 6 years.

5. I forgot how much we used to turn the ball over.

Lots of early mock drafts have him in 1st or 2nd round. Todd McShay has him #23 to the Chiefs. I trust his opinion over yours.

yeah, I know!

All those stupid mistakes Flynn made almost cost us the bama game and did lose us the UK and Arky games.

Hell Mauck made us look like a cold turd against UF. Stupid indeed isn't overridden by talent.

That's just stupid.

JM got his money and bailed on the NFL, but he was stud all over, physical, mental, clutch. Period.

That TN game, he overcame 4 TO's, (3 INT's but only one was a bad throw. The others were a slipped ball and a missed catch by Bowe) and put the Tigers on top with 2, maybe 3 4th-and-ballgame throws on the final drive.

That was not his best game. He was still extremely talented.

I don't doubt that at all. Tannehill has already shown that NFL teams will take a chance on a QB with the league being dominated by QBs these days.
However, Broyles is now gone, and didn't 3 other OU WRs get indefinitely suspended?
I think Landry's stock will drop this year.

I just don't see it with Landry.
He doesn't have anywhere near the ceiling that Tannehill has, IMO.
He's a statue, and his accuracy is terrible.

Watching that video really gives me an appreciation for last year's regular season team.

They A, hardly ever turned the ball over and
B, didn't have one game (save Alabama) within 3 points.

Also, last year's team didn't subtract years from my life like year's past.

I counted 6 LSU first round draft picks in the first 2 minutes and 30 seconds of that video that were mentioned by name, most of them top 10 picks:

1. Russell
2. Dorsey
3. Bowe
4. Jackson
5. Davis
6. Landry

There may have been others, but that seems exceptional to me.

No one ever said he didn't have talent.

I still remember him wearing a lime green suit to the Manning Passing Academy.
