You can argue we’re more likely to get a hit with stanfield but you can’t make a series argument that a Home Run isn’t better than a double.
Here’s the thing, when it’s the 9th inning and you are down by 4 runs and there is only one guy on base, it doesn’t fricking matter.

From an old LSU baseball coach..biggest rally killer is a HR.

Got a feeling Beck probably had a meeting in his office this week and asked Jay to give him a chance to prove himself. Only justifiable answer is to see how he’d handle the situation or if he could be relied on later down the road if they needed a big lefty AB

I thought Jay coached a whale of a series and I don’t necessarily like the guy.
The way your pinch hitters hit this series, it would be foolish to question that decision in the 9th.
Def felt like we got out-coached a bit in game 1. Not a dig on our guy. Just life in the SEC.
Glad to finally be somewhat competitive again and not just a series that everybody circles for at least two guaranteed wins.
GL the rest of the way.

would a 2 run homer not help? just asking
He wanted a LH in that situation, nothing more or less.

Low risk move that could potentially pay huge dividends. Not sure why folks are so hell bent on it. We won the series and were down three runs

All I know is Jake brown and Josh Pearson should play everyday regardless of matchup. Enough is enough with this junk
Posted on 4/19/25 at 10:36 pm to Datsmoneydude
Why not John Pearson?

you know what’s better than a runner in scoring position?
runs
This is impressive even for this place

We probably won’t see him again in SEC play. The guy looked lost at the plate.

Well you see the thing about Jay is he really never stops tinkering. He does this the entire year and it infuriates me. Just go with your best possible lineup and be done with it. Stop with the analytics bullshite. That bites Jay in the butt way more times than not.

Im ok with trying it. I dont like Frey in the game v a RH. Please DH Brown the rest of the way

Dude has 5 abs the entire year, and I love Jay as a coach but that is an extremely stupid move.
While your at it, ask Skip about some of his moves. I’m particularly interested in that idiotic pinch hit in the last game of the 1989 regional against #1 A&M.

It does, just not very much. The HR slightly increases your chances over a single because it reduces the opportunities of the defense getting the next out. If the next batter hits a slow roller near second base, the defender only needs to touch the bag if there is a force there. If the bases were clear he has to make the throw to first and beat that runner. Just a slightly better chance of a defensive miscue.

I would like an answer for that, but a better question, in my opinion, would be why did he sit there in the top of the 9th and let Alabama score 2 runs while hardly swinging the bat, against our struggling relievers, when he had Evans available. We all knew Evans wasn't going to have 3 or 4 inning in the tank today, but he certainly had 1 or 2. And there is absolutely no point in waiting to have a lead, when it's the last inning, and the last game of the series. There's nothing to save him for. At that point, the objective has to be to keep it where it is, and I was livid that Evans wasn't in the game.
And when Brown tripled in a run with nobody out, that immediately proved the point of why you had to keep it where it was. And then to bring in a guy who never plays, just because he is left handed, was the icing on the cake of a totally fumbled job of managing in that game.

Idk if you know how baseball works. This is a terrible look for you Sammy. You had done some recovering after the Milazzo situation you put yourself in. Your lack of understanding drops you back to full ranter territory.
And then you lose even more points bc Lsu Boosie is having to break it down for you, and you STILL don't have a clue.
