I also think it’s a lazy generalization for people to assume many thought the same about last year’s team. I could just be speaking from my own thoughts, but I felt they had a lot more question marks.
I remember watching a guy that covers college baseball on YouTube and he left LSU out of his preseason tournament prediction. This was right before the season even started. It was pretty bold, but I wasn’t even upset about it.
I think it’s fair to still have questions about the pitching, but we’ll see how they mature. The lineup should be much improved. I don’t ever remember feeling this excited about last season’s lineup.

I hope you are correct, because the same statement was made last year.
That didn’t work out so well.

I don’t know how you can know that until they show it on the field. I hope you are correct.

Again, by who?
Who was saying last years team that had to replace both starting pitchers, first baseman, second baseman, third baseman and the catcher from a title team was going to be the best team ever?

Everyone, including Jay Johnson, was gushing about the talent before the beginning of last year.
Let’s play the games.
Let’s play the games.

Proof? Or you just woke up feeling this way? Sorry if being cynical but this was said about last year’s team too.
One big difference is the top recruits in 2025 signed with MLB. This years crop made it to campus for the most part. It’s one of the highest graded freshman classes we’ve ever had make it to campus. Also last years portal players were bad. That’s not likely to happen 2 years in a row.

I'm looking at the highlights from yesterday.. We got big thick players
Remember ten years ago. Our infield was 5'3" and 145pounds. Not no more.

Let’s hope the Arambide-Wachs cup bump celebration doesn’t make it to the regular season.

You are saying this team has more talent than any LSU team of the past 40 years?
The talent level the last five years has taken a huge leap - not just at LSU, it’s throughout college baseball. The last five years probably includes the four most talented teams LSU has ever had. That’s in absolute talent, not comparing them to the rest of college baseball. Some of Skip’s gorilla ball teams had the most talent relative to their contemporaries.

Some fans going to to be pissed off when they see that cup pound plate celebration in live games lol
