Not a dig at JD at all.

I really thought Taylor was going to be a bigger factor this year after a solid freshman season, and obviously Nabers and Thomas going ham had something to do with it, but I was surprised at how little Daniels went to Taylor this season. He had 5 catches vs Ole Miss, his season high, with the 1 TD vs Missouri. I think he's a good goal line target but obviously the easy solution for Daniels was to keep it.

Credit to Taylor, though, I don't feel like we ever saw him pout or not play hard, was always in on the celebration with the team.

Nuss seemed to lean on him a lot more in the bowl game, 7 catches for 88 yards, even with Nabers and Thomas playing, and I think he'll need him even more in the '24 season.

I think he’s a top TE in the country. Will be a good one on Sundays soon.

I’d rather throw the ball to the stud receivers who can catch and run than a bigger but slower tight end who won’t give you much after the catch.

That’s not a Mason Taylor-specific thought. It’s simple logic, get the ball to the playmakers. In year one we forced the ball to the tight end a lot and were pretty good on offense. In year two we got the ball to the playmakers and had the best offense in the country.

Unless you have Travis Kelce, get 4 stud receivers in the game on your obvious passing downs.

He was involved at an appropriate level this year and made a solid contribution to the team. I don't know what more you expect.

not subbing in 3rd and long is worth it.

replacing Taylor with our 4th WR isn’t so valuable it’s worth the defense getting time to bring in 7 pass rushers

Puzzling why Mason Taylor frequently catches the ball and goes down immediately…tackled or own his own. Needs to develop more RAC!

I don’t like “forcing” it to the TE. Where Mason is going to be valuable is as a safety valve. Look to the WRs first and if it’s not there find Mason. That’s basically what JD did this year but instead of finding Mason for 6-8 yards he used his legs to pick up 15.

Nuss won’t be able to use his legs to that level so he’ll need to use Mason.

He’s a very solid TE imo, but people got a little too excited about him after his freshman year. I feel like people were expecting him to be a Brock Bowers type guy and he’s just not on that level. Not a knock against Mason, I think he just had too high of expectations going into last year.

He's a very solid player and he and the TE position as a whole will catch a lot of passes because Nuss will have to run his progressions and check down more than JD5.

Just got finished watching a compilation of UGA TE Brock Bowers highlights, who some are calling the next Travis Kelce.

While I was watching the higlights, I was imagining what if Bowers played at LSU and Jayden Daniels was throwing Bowers the ball, looking at the down & distance to see how clutch Bowers came through on each play. I saw speed, agility, hands, contested catches, RAC, break-tackle-ability and a knack for the endzone. Bowers was/is a playmaker, making similar clutch plays Nabers routinely made this year, scoring or moving the chains.

It was kind of sobering bc then I thought, "Yeah, we don't have that kind of TE on the roster."

I thought Green was considered to be on that level. A huge guy with great hands that runs more like a WR

Haven't seen a post from you since I met you (& Rouge) at the TD meet-up before the Burrow title game. Good times.

A good TE helps "move-the-chains" and sustain drives.

PS - I didn't know he was injured this year. What was the injury?

I think he had an ankle injury.

He went down easy before that. He is a good player but isn’t on the same planet as bower

He's a very good player now, he doesn't have anything to breakout from.

I want to see more two TE sets this season. We have some true playmakers at that position and a good TE is almost always open.

Very few teams do, in fairness.

If he could learn to break a tackle that would help tremendously
