You could say that, but Pelini did way better at Nebraska than anyone who followed him. He had 7 straight winning seasons all with at least 9 wins and 3 of them were 10-win seasons. The coaches who have come after have had 1 winning season in the last five years. They were a consistent winner with him. Now they are a consistent loser. His issues were related to him being a hothead with the administration, etc., because his results were good.

However, the pass defense was completely pathetic on Saturday and he needs to adjust quickly to being back in the SEC.

First half it was the offense. Second half it was the defense. A team egg.

they were on the field pretty much the entire half thanks to the completely f*cking inept passing of Brennan.

while brennan looked rattled out there, I remember watching and thinking that the game plan surely had some running involved. I think there were 9 running plays the entire 1st half.

This was a bad performance there is no way to sugarcoat it. As far as adjusting maybe Pellini didn't have much to choose from. Zone Defense requieres more understanding and practice. Man isn't easier to play, but it's easier to understand.

Backfield is young and will have some growing pains.

Not surprised to see you pulling out all the stops to defend Pelini after giving zero slack whatsoever to Aranda last year. What a hack

The situations aren’t comparable at all, and you know that.

It was a team failure.

The offense had a horrendous first half. It was Pelini's defense that kept us in the game.

However, I do agree about his lack of adjustments. I mean, did we not even practice a 3-3-5 for a fricking Mike Leach offense?

I never liked the Pelini hire.

There are a lot of bright defensive minds who haven't been in the FCS the last 7 years.

I hope this is a one year experiment.

Sort of like the defense taking a half off in a blowout game a week after beating Bama at Bama?

I doubt LSU eats 5 million buyout. O will blame it on the roster and next year Bo will blow 2-3 games we should have won and then fire him. Wasting 2 years in the process. This was a lazy hire. Pure and simple.

Just like the Linehan hire.

But giving up a ton of yards in a blowout win is readily comparable to, and actually worse than, giving up a ton of yards in a loss. Never change, my man

You know Pelini was once the head coach at Nebraska right? Just because Aranda is now a HC doesn’t mean he will succeed.

If you thought man was bad, imagine a bunch of freshman and inexperienced players running a zone. Spoiler alert, it ends up with a bunch of DB’s pointing fingers at each other and wide open touchdowns. At least this way there was someone in the frame most of the time.

I think it was a situation of trying to keep it simple for young players with little offseason, although obviously that didn’t work.

GTFOH. I believe you were the one championing that LSU will no longer have rebuilds, but reload like Bama, Clemson, OSU.

And Nebraska hasn’t come close to what it was under Pellini. It was also a lot better job than Baylor

Mike Leach loves him running the 4-3 defense!! They had the tools to torch the 4-3!!
Made Mississippi State look like a championship team!!

I would say they looked good for one quarter, then MSU adjusted and torched us the rest of the game. Go routes and shallow crosses all day.

And even when the offense got going a little in the second half, the D still couldn’t get off the field. DBs were short-handed, It’s true.

Leach and his Air Raid attack hit at the very worst time for LSU. We had a depleted and inexperienced group of defensive backs facing an innovative passing attack run by a Senior QB. It’s not the first time a Leach offense has made teams look bad. It was compounded by a stubborn coach in Pelini that refused to make any adjustments to stop the receivers running free in the secondary. If the offense had been a little more robust he might have gotten away with it. The question is what does he do with Stingley back and some time to look at the mistakes? If he doesn’t make adjustments, it’s gonna be a long season.

I know Bo was at Nebraska. I’m taking about now, no major programs were beating down his door to be HC. He’s a dinosaur compared to guys like Aranda.
