We didn’t play Army. Kennesaw State was a good hitting team as evidenced by their statistics on the year. We played USM three times and they were a conference champion with a better pitching staff and supportive fans. Let’s not act like it was easy.

USM had AT LEAST 3-4 pitchers better than the best pitcher on LSUs roster (Hilliard) & this is in no way a slight to Hilliard but he should be a Sunday starter, at best, for an elite SEC team like LSU should be.
USM {3.12} has the 2nd best team ERA in the Country.
LSU {4.31} has the 35th best team ERA in the Country.
While most on tRant thought USM was a great draw but they simply had a much better & deeper pitching staff than LSUs 1 starting caliber pitcher & patchwork bullpen. The hitting just couldn’t overcome the vast difference between the 2 teams pitching options.

Remember when LSU’s record was similar to a lot of other good teams and we were close to being a top 16 seed? No one thought they were world beaters. People have consistently said that they didn’t have the starting pitching to go far.

This! That team should have been worn out after playing a double header in very hot weather. We are an embarrassment at this point. And don’t give me “that’s just baseball.” We suck on the mound and in the field. Now I’ll give JJ 2 year to rebuild and recruit the very best and coach how he wants but after that I’m done.

Losing 2 and q in omaha is embarrassing and losing at home in the super regional is embarrassing, so no matter what, this fanbase was gonna be “embarrassed”, which i find weird

The real disheartening thing is realizing that outside of the 2 miracles innings, LSU was dominated for all of the 1st 3 games.
I guess Jay has to hit the portal hard for pitching bc no one I saw this year made me go “I see him being a monster with another offseason/next year”. They all look terrible. And the top pitching signees won’t make it to campus as normal.
Jay needs time, obviously. But the lack of improvement in defense and outright regression in pitching, as the season went along is concerning. Arnt those where their effect should be seen?

They beat the odds twice to be 2-0. The chances of coming back late in both games were slim to none.

Wtf are you embarrassed about? Are you a player? LSU lost to a better team nothing to be embarrassed about except for Paul and LSU coaches l for letting the pitching staff get to this point.
