He didn’t realize the strength of the big man in the SEC. No inside presence at all and if they are inside they are getting pushed around….speaking of that, almost last or very close with rim presence in the country but we have a 7 footer sitting on the bench???? Wth is going on with this team and coaching staff

Any coach is in over his head this season, idk what people expected. Go find a new team and win a title I mean when is the last time LSU won a NC in men’s basketball……that’s how much they care about basketball we are a football and baseball school.

He is on the bench bc he isn’t ready to play. As bad as we are, he is a turnover machine. Common thing for 7 foot freshman. Many of those guys were able to just use their height to dominate high school. See Reid last year. See traore the 5 star we had committed, who isn’t playing at auburn.
I don’t know reasons for sure, but I think it is telling that we were able to get the 3 highly rated freshman late in the game.

Sounded like a very standard press conference from a coach whose team is struggling to me. I’m sure the Will Wade stans are going to hop in here without actually watching the press conference to pile on, but I think you may be acting a bit disingenuous when you say that you “don’t dislike Coach Mc” when your entire recent post history is about how much you love Will Wade and shitting on the basketball program

We used to NOT be a baseball school. Right coach with the right vision can change that. Skip came to basketball games and begged fans/students to come watch baseball. As soon as winning started, fans showed up. Now we are known as a baseball school.

With the right coach and right vision we can be a basketball school. Time will tell if MM is that guy. Not looking great right now, but I’m withholding judgment until next season.

There’s absolutely nothing you can pull from this season to judge him.

He does need to start recruiting better though

He sounded fine. I especially like that we are seeing improvement from Reed. They have been working with him all year and we are starting to see why. 6'10" who can handle like a guard.

Absolutely, Phillips is in no way ready to play, hell man we are soft enough, He doesn't help in that regard, in fact he makes us even softer and that's saying a lot.

That's why I think player development will be a big key for CMM going forward.

Look, I'm as disappointed as anyone how this is trending right now but I don't think it's time to throw in the towel on CMM by any means.

But passion is the true enemy of reason and the few folks around who are still passionate about LSU hoops are letting emotions rule in the moment.

Time will tell - he ain't getting fired after one year.

His bad recruiting and our lack of improvement as season goes on can be pulled from this. Clock is ticking, if he doesn’t start next year well.

Got to give him time. Roman wasn’t built in a day. Today’s fan can comprehend the word patience.

This brings me back to the FSU/LSU game and many fans on this board made the claim that CBK was in over his head because of a blocked field goal.

The fan base needs to be patient and allow CM to recruit and building his team. Stop worrying and comparing about what’s going on at Bama, Auburn, etc in year one of LSU Basketball. If this would be year four, he’d be nearly out the door.

The complete collapse of this team is extremely troubling.

They had an extremely questionable finish to Kansas state who has turned out to be a very good team. They beat Arkansas and hung with Kentucky at rupp.

We shouldn’t be getting blown out every game like we currently are.

Also I echo the recruiting concerns.

If one or the other wasn’t happening I wouldn’t be sounding the alarm. But you can be getting blown out in conference every game AND suck at recruiting.

Basketball is a quick turn around sport and depends on recruiting. He is recruiting at Ohio valley range right now. That will never win in todays sec. shite it couldn’t win in the black hole that was the sec during original Trent’s time. Vanilla TJ needs to stop being boring get a new O and learn how to recruit and do it fast.

100 percent of this roster was being blown out but we had great recruiting this would be fine.

If he was showing signs of life and recruiting just wasn’t there yet I’d be more concerned but still feel like he isn’t all the way over his head.

MM is in the perfect storm: he followed a coach that could win and brought passion and details that high iq fans liked. MM style is bland and boring just like his sets on offense. Wade figured this out quick at LSU to get any interest you better be good and exciting. Mm is about as far from exciting as can be. This causes a worse melt when things go bad if you don’t look like you give a shite or have any fire. Then MM has a bad roster and they only manage to get worse. His biggest problem is he can’t recruit and I don’t think anyone has faith that will change. He isn’t geared to recruiting.

Following up a popular coach is never easy, then when you are the polar opposite it’s worse.

When you go from playing cupcakes into the rough SEC, you are not going to see improvement. You’re going to see what is happening right now

It’s the effort and even with a hard schedule you can’t get beat by 40 and 20 every night. His piss poor recruiting and horrendous boring style is a red flag

Getting the job in April, Who was he supposed to recruit? Especially with so much uncertainty surrounding the program. Surely you understand how basketball recruiting works

He didn't sound real defeated to me saying he loves LSU, is thrilled to be at here and how they can't just lay down and get their butts kicked the rest of the season. He talked about them continuing to work to improve.

Look, I'm skeptical of his coaching style from the bench and would like to see more fire/energy from him.
And we are playing terrible right now, but I didn't see him sounding defeated in his press conference. We're getting our asses kicked, so I'm sure it's not easy to sound like Mr. Optimistic.
