Can you imagine the stories those guys will tell throughout the years of the time they played LSU in a super regional in Baton Rouge and it was their first time being in the gulf south in June? I bet they'll never forget the way they couldn't breathe in the humid heat.

I am surprised their coach isn't getting criticized for leaving him in there for so long.

Apparently all they could do was hit because they couldn’t field or pitch in the heat.

Yeah, man…he was bent over at the waist blowing between every pitch. Big Ben commented on it during the game and asked their coach if he was alright in the post-game interview.

No doubt.
And they'll probably tell everyone that only their side of Alex Box was hot and humid...

App State game in 08 made that game feel like a fall afternoon.
This and Tennessee 2005 on that Monday night can’t be touch when it comes to heat.

The head coach and trainer should both be heavily criticized. Yes, it was atypical weather for them and they didn't have time to get acclimated to the heat, but they should've done a better job of preparing for the heat and how to protect the players. I wanted to throw in the towel for the pitcher early in the 2nd inning when he was obviously struggling. The pitcher's heat illness was not going to get better w/ time; unlike K. Anderson's injury the previous game, you can't "work through" heat illness while still in the heat.

West Virginia’s coach got caught completely unprepared. There’s no way your starter should struggle long enough to throw 67 pitches in two innings. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen that.

I was there for that.

10 am start after breakfast at IHOP. And the impending Hurricane Gustav made sure that everybody’s mind was on getting home and battening down the hatches.

I imagine the pitcher was telling him he was feeling good Sunday, recovered from being sick, etc, but heat like that will knock you on your arse if you're still weak. He looked awful.

...he was struggling for breath

When he would walk behind the mound in between batters his mouth was wide open and he was breathing in heaves like a fish thrown up on the bank.

Once between batters he actually squatted down just off the mound almost taking a knee.

I honestly thought he was going to go down.

That kid was noticeably struggling with the heat. Imagine if it would have started at 5pm?

Did they not have mist fans in the dugouts or is that not allowed?

I remember leaving the stadium before halftime and taking my dad to Boggies just so we could be in the AC
