Honestly, if we were playing somewhere else this weekend I might not go, but there is no way I'm missing a trip to LSU with what's at stake this weekend. I'm not really concerned with nightlife, but will drink a beer and can't wait to enjoy some good cajun food. What's a good place to hangout and watch other games of the day while waiting on ours? I expect us to be a night game.

Typically, for a 6 - 7 pm game, tailgaters are out there early noon / afternoon on. Many tailgate as hard afterwards, too. And are set up all weekend long. Re food and restaurants, you will get all you can handle for free, all day/evening long. Booze is everywhere, just no glass containers. Just don't ask what you are eating, it's all good and very unhealthy.

This is worth emphasizing.

You mean the Marriott Courtyard downtown? (Just making sure because there is another huge JUST Marriott Hotel off College Dr and I-10-that is NOT downtown)

If so, the blue is Nicholson (Hwy that runs right in front of Tiger Stadium-to downtown) Easiest way to get from downtown to LSU.

For parking, park off Nicholson, on the same side of the street as Tiger Stadium. There is a lot in front of Tiger Stadium, but there is also a huge lot, you'll see some RV's, etc. and it's closer to Alex Box. It's free and it's the best parking for convenience getting in and out without traffic.
You will be walking towards the outfield of the stadium. All the bells and whistles are on the back "home plate" grandstand entrance. Definately walk around there, lots of tailgating, with FSU stuff on people will invite you over. I don't suggest parking on that end because it's a traffic cluster and about the same walk.
You park there off Nicholson/same side as Tiger Stadium and be within walking distance of Walk-On's bar for all the other games and drinks, and walk to the Stadium from there.

The Courtyard Marriott Downtown is within walking distance of some great restaurants, just depends what yo feel like eating.

Maybe it's not downtown. It's definitely a Marriott. East of campus, maybe 3 miles.

Bengal Tap Room is a cool place right by your hotel. Good beer selection and TVs everywhere. One of the most underrated bars in BR. Will be a solid nightcap for you if you wanna watch the west coast games. Or if you are feeling like getting crazy, Happy's is always packed. Other than that, Downtown can sometimes be a little trashy.

The 2-3 hours before the game, I'd go to Walkons if you want some food, or to just hang out at the bar. It's right next to the Box and will have all the other games on. Place will be packed. Also can try to walk around and find some tailgates to go to.

Morning/lunch, I'd go to Chimes cause it's an LSU staple, and get the Boudin omelette or BBQ shrimp poboy. Beer selection is also great there. Elsie's and Curbside are both a short drive down Government St and are quality joints. I am just stereotyping you as a classic sports fan, but I can give you other recs depending on what you like to eat/drink and how fancy you want to get or if you have any other things you want to do besides eating and drinking...

I'm hoping for night games and fancy won't be an option. I'll check those out. Thanks

Definitely not downtown. Downtown is north of campus. So disregard that part of my post above.... Instead of BTR, go to The Bulldog. It cool and basically right down College Dr from where you are staying.

What street? Sounds like you're at the really Tall Marriott off Corporate Blvd and I-10.

Do not Take College Drive to get to LSU. It's a fvicking disaster.

Take I-10 West(its' a left to get on the interstate)very easy to miss for out of towners. When leaving the hotel stay to the left inside lane-it is just a one lane entrance to I-10 West..don't go down to the huge overpass, by Chili's-that is to get on the interstate the opposite Way out of town.
Go down one Exit on the interstate to Acadian Thruway, take a Left, go straight > it turns into Stanford, 4 Lanes lead right into campus.
