Stay downtown at one of the hotels there. Watermark is high end. Hilton a little lower.

I would actually put these on par with each other, but the view of the river from the Hilton is >>> than the lobby of the Watermark. Also, L'Auberge Casino is a short ride to campus and is also a fun place to stay.

As for restaurants, for visitors, I've found that it is best to break it down by proximity to the hotel. So...

Downtown:

Tsunami - Go for the sunset. The sushi is not the best in Baton Rouge, that would be Ichiban, but the view is the best in town. If it is overcast, skip it.

Little Village - Italian
Stroube's - High end carnivore (steaks/chops)
Happy's - Pub

LSU and River Road:

Roberto's - It's a little bit of a ride, about 12 miles down River Road from campus, but worth the trip. I see coach Mainieri in there quite a bit.

Chimes - LSU North Gate. It gets you to one of LSU's best area's to hang out and the food is good. You're going there for the beer selection as well.

Louie's Cafe - LSU's quintessential greasy spoon. I recommend the Mitchell.

Towne Center/Mid-City:

City Pork on Jefferson - I always order the same thing, Pork Belly Hoagie and Bacon Old Fashoned

Elsie's Plate and Pie on Government

I could keep going, but that's enough, you'll get more suggestions from others.

As for the games, come early and tailgate, it's a great time. Bring sunscreen, no umbrella. Right field is the sun field, amazing sunsets, but hot as balls from around noon to 6pm. Visitors are allotted a certain number of grandstand seats, try to get in there.

Have fun and

Stay close to the LSU campus. DO NOT venture north of I-12/10. (Not even to get gas) Stay south and you'll be safe...……

Good suggestions here. With regard to City Pork, I know that hoagie is the bomb, but they tend to have GREAT specials too. The Wild Board Flautas are the best appetizer (can't go without getting some now). They also have great charcuterie plates if that's your jam.

Go to Tony's Seafood. It is in a bad part of town, and you have to drive through an even worse part of town to get there, but it is hands down the best eats in Baton Rouge.

You may have to walk a ways to park as there are reserved lots near the Box. Park either on campus off of Nicholson Drive or past the stadium near River Road.

Campus is beautiful. Memorial Tower/Campanile, Quad, French House, Mike the Tiger's Habitat, Tiger Stadium, LSU Union, Greek Ampitheatre, Parade Grounds, tailgating near Alex Box.

The Chimes, Walk-Ons, Acme, Fleur-de lis Pizza on Government Street, Ruffino's - upscale, Superior Grille, Pastime Lounge and Restaurant on Nicholson near downtown - best Old School LSU hangout, Casinos on the River downtown.

Noles1 tell us about your team.

I obviously looked at stats but stats don’t tell the whole story.

For instance, our pitchers all have ERAs of 3.8+ but it’s really due to early struggles and our guys have been throwing really well lately.

We are a pretty talented team that underachieved all year. Baseball is funny game though and I think most Nole fans are hoping we have picked the right time to get hot. We certainly were this past weekend, but we were also no hit by one of Stetson's midweek guys three weeks ago. If our starters are good that's good for us. Our BP is questionable if we need a lot of innings from them.

I would expect nothing less. That’s what I was looking for. Very interested in the tailgating and the atmosphere. Win or lose I’ll have a good time I’m sure

I have found that, generally, the Tiger baseball fans are very, very different than the football crowd. The tailgating is just as good, the people are very friendly. They talk some, but it's all good. Tell 'em how much you hate Those People From Gainesville and they will welcome you just fine. Add to that telling them how much you HATE Alabama, they'll send you Christmas cards. Its been my experience that Tiger Baseball fans appreciate good baseball. I've seen them give standing ovations to Stony Brook and Coastal Carolina after they beat LSU. There are some dipwads everywhere you go who just don't get it, and, yes, the stakes are high in this series, but just have a good time. Walk Ons is pretty good and right there by the Box. The L-S-U chant will drown you out if you start the tomahawk chop thing, though.

In Summary

Don't go north of campus

Most all restaurants are good. Everyone has their favorite. Mine are TJ Ribs and Sammy's, but for proximity to the Box do Walk Ons.

Park early. Plan on spending 2-3 hours on campus prior to game for TIGER viewing, sights, and tailgating or walking back from Walk Ons.

Wear your colors and don't tomahawk chant too much or you may hear some Dalton Hilliard stories. You will get friendly TIGER BAIT chants at you.

We love to feed and drink with opposing fans. If you not sure what you are eating it is best not to ask.

First pitch - all bets are off Seminole.

And we love Mike Martin. He takes the pressure off Mainieri winning it all. Alec Box is a great ball park for Martin's final game.
