Texags travel tips to Baton Rouge

quote:

I'm currently a student and cadet here at A&M, and am going to the lsu game with my roommate and another friend. I've heard a lot of scary things about Baton Rouge as an opposing fan. Any advice for me? Should I wear maroon? Heard not to have any stickers on my car as well. Anything is appreciated!

quote:

Baton Rouge is a ****hole. They don't have anything of interest to see on campus or the bar district. Have a thick skin. It will be a night game and all the fans will have spent all day getting wasted at their tailgates. They are *******s to highest degree and some of the worst that college football has to offer. I would stay in NOLA and drive in for the game. Leave immediately after and head back to NOLA. Spend as little time in BR as possible. I will never go back to BR.

quote:

e been to Baton Rouge twice when I was a cadet back in the day. I will tell you this...if you go to the game, have a very thick skin if you wear any A&M gear and try to maintain your cool at all times (aka take the high road and move on). LSU makes tceh fans look like saints which should tell you something. Hope this helps. By the way, you are right, do not bring a car that has anything that identifies you with A&M....full stop.

quote:

My first and last trip to BR was freshman year 1975. Good guys won and in an angry fit LSU fans pushed the Aggie Shuttle Bus I had riden in onto its side thus breaking most of the passenger side windows. Advise? Don't take a vehicle that you are concerned if it gets damaged. Stay in a group of more than 2. Always kick for the nuts and swing for their ears. Good luck and Gig'em Aggies.

quote:

It's Bayou Classic weekend in New Orleans. The crowd for that is so rough, even most of the strip joints on Bourbon Street close for the weekend. DO NOT go to New Orleans.

quote:

2) Why didn't you listen to 1)? BR is a ****hole and LSU fans are the worst in CFB hands down. You will be treated like crap the entire time, your car will be vandalized for your association sticker and multiple drunk fools will try to get in a fight with you.

3) If you still insist on going, do NOT stay in BR. Stay in NOLA and take a bus or catch a ride in for the game (you WILL regret taking your own vehicle) and get out as quick as you can to go back to having a good time in NOLA

quote:

4) Do not root externally for A&M unless you end up sitting in a sea of A&M fans. Even then remember to not gloat about anything after the game, especially in case of an Aggie victory.

5) If you are sitting in a completely LSU area look up some of the motions and words to "neck" to silently mouth - you don't actually have to sing along.

6) A thick southern accent will work in place of a cajun one if you don't have a natural one.

7) Be prepared for LSU fans to cheer injuries to Aggies, cheer bad calls from the officiating unit, boo everything that goes in favor of A&M, in general drunkenness, cursing, asshattery, etc.

8) Ear plugs if you end up near the Tiger band - they will continue to do dumb atonal and loud things on the fly they decide make them cool.

9) Exit the stadium after the game with your group, at the correct flow of everyone else, and the shortest path you can to get to your way off the University and back into your vehicle.

10) Expect broken windows/slashed tires/urine or sugar in the gas tank/stolen vehicle upon returning to your vehicle. You will be relieved upon arrival and it turns out its still there & operable.

11) In the event of an Aggie victory, do your best to already start moving toward other Aggie fans during the final minutes or any overtime. Stay with a large Aggie group since the herd is the safest and easiest to defend against idiot corn dogs. Expect thrown bodily waste, food, bottles even when you have arrived back at your vehicle in case of a victory.

12) Baton Rouge & LSU Uni Cops are no nonsense and will not listen to your side - if you get rounded up by them both you and the corn dog will be beaten up and tossed into holding.

13) If possible do not celebrate until you are back safely in College Station or home.

Why do we have this reputation? Every away fan I’ve actually met has said they’re treated well.

I mean, college station is definitely nicer and cleaner than BR so I don’t really get that dig.

My parents (Aggie fans) are acting like LSU is some kind of lawless place where people will literally jump you for being an opposing fan. Never mind the overwhelming majority of fans that will act gracefully toward you if you do the same to them, you know, the ones that invite you for a drink and amazing food.

I hate having A&M in the SEC. Aggies are so fricking irritating.

The only first hand story I’ve heard was from an auburn co worker that said some drunk dude was hitting on her in front of her husband. It was a super trashy story but it wasn’t the war zone that is painted in threads like this.

Been in the SEZ for over a decade and never seen a fraction of the drama that get spewed. I bet most of these “first hand accounts” are actually something that they heard thru the grapevine

They rewrite the same stories for Austin, Lubbock, Norman, Waco, etc. They are the biggest collection of pussies on the planet, but they also make shite up about all their opponents. It's a small part of their cult indoctrination.

What a bunch of pusssys. They need Florida as a permanent opponent for a few years to really see what shite fans are and to grow some thick skin.

Well, if you go to certain parts of BR, it doesn’t really matter if you’re a fan or not. Maybe they got confused

I tell you what.... I wasn't planning on vandalizing cars and flipping buses, but if I'm already being blamed for it.

I'll see you guys in the hayfield after the game

They are so weirdly nice in College Station that I can see how they think any normal fan base is mean. It's so strange there - like a fake town. I was creeped out when we went a few years ago.
