So let us thank God for Scott Woodward and his administration as AD.

Honestly, we prolly never miss a tournament and do it with middle fingers up to the ncaa while they do nothing, ask auburn, Kansas and anyone else who didn’t cower down to those assholes
I hate WEAKNESS. Weak fans that accept mediocrity and weak administrators that do the same.
Who remembers former LSU AD Bob Broadhead? He would have told the NCAA to frick right off. He would have also told the SEC Office and TV Networks to frick right off in regards to moving games to the Sunlight hours. We're not going to move this game to morning/afternoon. It's staying at night, so fine us or whatever yoiu want to do, but the game is staying at night!

And the SEC would have told him to frick right off too. As would the board of supervisors. There weren't massive TV contracts in the 1980's. It would have been easier to have bravado when the school wasn't in line to lose millions in revenue.
The unknown is would the sanctions levied on Wade and LSU have been worse if LSU didn't fire Wade? The ruling suggest the sanctions would have been worse because Wade's firing was identified as a mitigating factor with respect to the case. Now, would Wade missing 10 games per year for 3, 4, 5 seasons have been worse than watching McMahon be overmatched for 3 seasons? Maybe not. But I don't think anyone can say there wasn't justification for LSU to take the action they did.
That said, continuing to relive the past is a fruitless endeavor. It's not going to change anything. I prefer to look to the present and future. I guess you can never say never, but it is HIGLY unlikely McMahon will ever make this a great program. It's time to make a change. In doing so Wade shouldn't be the only candidate discussed, but he absolutely should be one of the first ones discussed.

WW never accomplished anything of note at LSU and he was never going to get more talent than he’d already accumulated on some of his teams
Wade was the most consistent we’ve had since Dale brown. He also delt with the distraction of the fbi probe and looming ncaa investigation and penalties. Sure, some people are clearly being hyperbolic about what success he would have had, but to say no success isn’t true either. I would be curious to see how he does now at a P4 since the landscape is different now.

You believe top coaches don't cheat to get their players.
You think Nick Saban cheated! I do not think so. I am also pretty sure Les Miles never cheated his way to an almost 80% winning record. I am also pretty sure Brian Kelly does not cheat. Neither did Skip, Kim Mulkey, Sue Gunther, Paul Manieri, Jay Johnson nor any of the other greats at LSU.
You can win without cheating....

If the NCAA had enough to link the OLOL scandal to LSU coaches and admin, then it wouldn’t have mattered if LSU complied or not.
They did t have enough to go after football, or else they would have hit them more.
This is what I keep thinking. Would the NCAA really leave LSU football alone if they had piles of evidence that could've buried them? Did they hate Will Wade that much for rocking their blue bloods boat that they'd glaze over football issues just to get him fired? Highly doubtful

I think the 2 issues are separate in that way but I do think Woody firing Wade was a gesture of trying to clean things up if that makes sense.

The real question you should be asking yourself is what would have happened if Wade never lied to Woodward. Because the answer to that question is Will Wade might still be your head coach.
Bruce Pearl basically did the same thing to Auburn and his team is presently the no. 1 ranked team in the country!

There is head in the sand going on from your post.

but he saw it here on TD.com! it must be fact!
Or he read it in the actual letter of allegations from the NCAA which included actual text messages from Wade's phone discussing payments that came directly from a joint account of Wade and his wife.
Now, you might not agree with the punishment, but the "crime" was spelled out pretty fricking clearly. Whats worse than that is you people seem to think that Woodward then fired Wade. That LOA from the NCAA went straight to the attorneys and the school President and the BOS and THEY made the decision to fire him. Woodward could've threatened to quit and/or light himself on fire in the middle of the Quad and it would not have saved Wade from being fired.

Where are you getting that? The txt messages are to a woman. The IARP findings showed no payments to players but a payment to a former players ex girlfriend for unspecified reasons. His violations were
- failure to report a potential violation
- failure to present a cooperative atmosphere
- failure to cooperate
- impermissible payments to the woman
I also find it funny that football actually got caught paying a kid during that same investigation yet it’s never been mentioned once on this board.
