Maybe not what you meant, and Longstreet may wind up being great, but you called him “a stud,” and there’s zero evidence to suggest he’s currently a stud, and certainly none to suggest he’s a bigger one than Leavett. Who’s proven he’s a stud.

What is it about Longstreet that has you so fired up besides his 5-star status? (Not being an a-hole, I’m genuinely curious). Reports weren’t great in spring, though got much better toward the end. Appeared to have a “long” delivery and a bit overall awkward motion. Which is fine for a 2nd year guy. He just didn’t appear ready to be the starting QB for NC contending team.

Again, which is fine. But our excitement for him should probably be saved for ‘27. And there’s no guarantee he’ll even be here then. Or just inherit the job. If there’s a guy out there in the portal Lane likes more, he’ll try to go grab him. I’m sure he’d prefer Longstreet to show him enough, but it’s just so hard to compare a guy in practice to somebody else in games. I am certainly curious to see how he plays this year if he has to. Mop up can only tell so much. But I’m not rooting for it, or predicting it, due to poor play from Leavett. Which, while maybe wrong, is kinda a bit how your post read upon my re-reading.

I just don’t think hoping he plays meaningful football in ‘26 is in LSU’s best interest. And the OP kinda read like that. But I could be wrong. Maybe that’s not what he meant at all. If so, that on me.

You really should watch. He is a terrifying runner. Though when Little Miss Sunshine Moscona has reservations about his readiness I hesitate to get fully onboard.

Funny. This reads like one of those overly emotional and assuming texts that a wife sends her husband about not loving her anymore all bc he told the lady cutting his hair good morning.

What are you even babbling about. I read about half of what you typed until it was just too much of a chore to continue. Does it matter if I think he’s better than Leavett? Even if I did, I wouldn’t need to tiptoe around that in order to satisfy you. I was just asking how the guy was looking, Chief.

He took off at the end of Spring. Hes now working with the 2's and his timing is off a little which is to be expected. If years past have told us anything our backup is going to see some time in meaningful games at some point in the season:

- 2020-2025 backup saw meaningful snaps in every year.
- ***2018-2019 only 2 recently where that didn't happen.
- 2016-2017 QB rotations
- ***2015 Stuck with Brandon Harris despite his struggles for God Knows why
- 2014 QB rotation
- 2013 QB injured
- ***2012 Mettenberger start to finish
- 2008-2011 Enough said
- 2007 - Ryan Perriloux and Matt Flynn
- ***2006 - Russell Start to finish
- 2005 - QB injured
- 2004 - QB Rotations
- ***2003 Matt Mauck
- 2002 QB Injured
- 2001 QB Injured in SEC Championship
- 2000 QB Rotation

So if history tells us anything its that our backup will need to see meaningful snaps at some point for whatever reason.

Nussmeier was hurt. In his junior year we had a middle of the pack receiver group. The SEC figured that out and made it difficult. We had zero no running game junior or senior year. Against string teams. Nussmeier had to lead an offense that could outscore TAM and Bama. And others. He could not do that… embarrassing lack of running game was part of that. As a senior the injury limited him With Longstreet we have viable back up and maybe next year starter.
