Husan Longstreet...Anyone know how he’s been looking?

With so much talk around Leavitt and wonder about how he’ll look returning from his injury, Longstreet seems to get lost in the shuffle. Personally, I’m intrigued by him and what Kiffin can turn him into down the road. He may end up in the captains chair steering the ship for us at some point this season due to injury or just poor QB play from SL. Kiffin didn’t steal a 5 star recruit from under Lincoln Riley’s nose to simply ride the bench at LSU. Guy is a stud and I suspect that we’ll see more of him this year than most believe.

Reports are that his potential is sky high but he doesn’t really have the timing with the WRs down and still has some growing pains. Makes some nice throws here and there but night and day difference between him and Leavitt.

Landon Clark has a long way to go according to multiple LSU media guys. Hes very athletic and mobile, but this level seems a bit too fast for him right now as far as passing. Let’s hope it never has to get to Clark playing in a meaningful SEC game this year.

I don’t see this happening unless Sam gets injured sometime in the season in which causes his poor play. If Sam can stay healthy I believe he can have a heisman caliber season.

I share your hopeful optimism, but I seem to remember Nuss widely considered to be a possible #1 overall draft pick and thinking we were going into the season with the most solidified QB in the SEC.

Heard the backups are just not getting as much work due to SL getting the lion share due to him missing time bc of the injury

Looking back at SL game film and he makes all kinds of throws with touch on them. Sometimes because he is off balance sure. But he has some touch also. Seems like a catchable ball. Not having the worlds strongest arm will make a qb better imo.

And exactly what he said. Nuss got injured. If Nuss was healthy all season, we would have had the best QB situation in the SEC. Or among the best anyway.

I think a mobile QB is paramount in winning college football games. Maybe not so much in the pros. In order to have a good runn game, the qb has to be a legitimate run threat to pick up yardage. LSU's run game has been putrid without a mobile QB. Nuss when healthy can throw NFL quality passes. Nuss's clear cut torso injury obviously held him back greatly his senior year. His reluctance to run was in large part related to injury and having no decent back up. I hope Nuss has great pro career.

Definitely not the best. Nuss would’ve been hard pressed to out perform the seasons that Chambliss, Marcel Reed, or Diego Pavia had last year whether he was healthy or not. Nothing against him, I just personally thought that he was overhyped from the jump. It’s nice that SL and probably the majority of our QB’s going forward will be a running threat under Kiffin. Nuss was a sitting duck in the pocket similar to what we had with Mettenberger. I trusted Mett a lot more throwing the ball as well.

It’s not even August 10th and we have a ranter calling for our backup QB to be the starter. Never change

Maybe reread the OP but slower this time. No one called for the backup to start anywhere in what was posted. Simply put, we apparently have an ultra talented backup for the future that is intriguing to look forward to. This is an LSU football message board, right? If talking about our backup QB bothers you that much then maybe sign on to Pinterest and go build a DIY bench or something…

There are some posters that have been here too long and their minds have been warped and conditioned to the group think/culture of the board. They can't wait to find an excuse to post something that'll make their fellow rantards up vote such as bashing a guy for talking about the backup QB. Since no one's called for the backup QB yet and they need an excuse to make their usual remarks, OP is close enough and will have to do for now I guess

Matt Moscona HATES the backups. Said if Longstreet or Clark have to play, the season is over.
Went on to compare it to Van Buren last year which he made it clear that he called that before it happened. He let everyone know that if Van Buren had to play for Nuss, the whole season is over. And Matt was RIGHT. So he’s saying that again right now. Longstreet and Clark are terrible.
I chose not to believe his exaggeration. They are very talented and with some next level coaching, this QB is going to be great.
