The rushing stats for LSU are primarily built on Daniels breaking free on long runs. Otherwise, the ground game isn't anything special.
Uhh Logan Diggs has the second most rushing yards per game in the SEC.

Outside of Daniels' huge gains on non-designed runs, LSU had 120 yards rushing.
Diggs + Williams combined for 144 rushing yards. So I’m not sure where you’re getting these numbers.

That’s because you want to believe LSU defense can’t be that bad against one of the weakest offenses in the SEC. You are exactly right, something’s gotta give.
In defense of the defense, They shut down the one dimensional Mississippi State.
We struggled against teams with good QBs... Auburn does not have a good QB

Aub has a good running game, it will be important for LSU to make Aub remain one dimensional. I’m also interested in how Aub will try to defend against LSU’s receivers and at the same time keep Daniels from exploding on them. It’s going to be a great game to watch.

I'm not going to touch this O/U. It was easy to smash the over Saturday against Mizzou, but this one going under has a legit shot of happening.
Exactly. Auburn is going to milk the clock running the football.
Also, their pass rush sucks, so they will keep everything in front of them and make us patiently take what they are giving. That will also eat clock.

Originally I had a very similar view as yours, I was impressed with Aub’s defense even before they played Ga close. But now with their defense hurting, and some new players starting, my view has changed. LSU’s offense will take advantage of any weakness. This potent LSU offense is not one you want to have on the job training as a defender.
LSU's offense is not particularly complicated. So it's unlikely new players will be all that confused. What makes LSU's offense great is simply just personnel and execution. They have an answer for however a defense wants to play. IMO, the key to that has been the emergence of Diggs.
The LSU OL is good. That's where it starts. But if you want to play man and keep guys up to stop Daniels or Diggs from running, LSU will just throw it deep to Nabers or Thomas. If you want to keep your safeties back to prevent the deep ball...LSU will just hand it to Diggs for 6, 7, 8+ yards up the middle. If you want to crash on Diggs, Daniels can just pull it and run for 30 yards...or just flip it to the TE for 8. Then if as a defense you have pretty much everything covered, Daniels can simply take off for 40.
Now that LSU has a running game outside of Daniels and Daniels is willing (and able) to hit the deep ball, this offense has become really tough to stop. And it doesn't really matter if the defense has a good idea of what play is coming.

I dont know if this is an unpopular opinion, but I really enjoy Hugh Freeze.

well, they should just sit the ones that don’t.

The first team is already sitting. Denver Harris, Greg Brooks, Duce Chestnut, and JK Johnson are all hurt, benched or off the team. Along with Major Burns, that was supposed to be the first team secondary. Now we are playing the second team. You want to put in the third team? That would be all the guys who are not good enough to play.

These last few games are not anomolies....they are what we are. Ranked 117.
Your type also said Daniels “is what he is” and “after five years he’ll never improve”. That defense is getting better. They are still bad and will probably never be very good, but they can become competent, as they were in the second half of the Missouri game.

The key was that the DL was able to get a bit of pressure in a few spots.
LSU is not brining in any new free agent DBs to replace the current personnel. So they are going to have to find a way to compensate. That way is pressure with the DL...which has been the most disappointing unit on the team to date. Everyone knew the secondary had questions going into the season. But when you returned guys like Wingo and Jones, who played well last season, to go along with the return of Smith, the expectation was the DL was going to be ok.
As it turns out, the "backups" have been solid...Guillory, Jefferson, Swinson. It's the first team guys who have massively underwhelmed. IF the DL can improve that could be the difference between terrible and below average.

Not only that, but a lot of Daniels’ running yards are on designed running plays, usually read options. It’s bogus bullshite to strip those out of our running yards as though only yards by RBs count.

Agreed. I was going to say that and then realized the RB stats weren’t even right.

Daniels has also had some big runs on straight draws. Which, again, are designed.

Freeze was impressed with his team’s performance vs Ga, talked about his quarterback’s incompletions vs Ga. Freeze was explaining that the majority of the time in this league DB’s are going to contest passes, “except maybe LSU” LOL Yes, he stated exactly that!

My reply was to the idiot Tiger1215. S/he stated the following
quote:
I mean he isn't lying about the dbs. Non of them look back for the ball it's really sad. This is all on coaches at this point.
Here is what I stated that made you shite yourself in believing I ACTUALLY think we need to bench the players.
quote:
This is all on coaches at this point.
To which I replied:
quote:
well, they should just sit the ones that don’t. That’s what I would do because THEY ARE TAUGHT THAT IN JR HIGH.
Some of you people must dream of ways to shite on coaches.
Do you honestly believe they don’t teach it still or stress it at practice? I mean…
That apparently made you reply with this because I made a point that it is not on the coaches. At this point, the only recourse the coaches have is to take them out of the game , which is not what I’m advocating. Just making a point how stupid it is to blame the coaches for something they have been taught since Jr High.

BK needs to tape this on all the DB's lockers for motivation.

Man, it would be great to see LSU DB’s finally showing others that they can play defense.
