Winning 10 is not the same bar it was previously.
In the past that was the measuring stick because you played less games.
It is nice and better than where Ed O drove us into the ditch like a he was a UGA player.

Anyone calling Les high class has their head in the sand.
The man was fired from Kansas for off the field stuff, he had a frick pad on campus here, he managed to cause violations that made our cuck ad bend the knee to the ncaa and death penalty our basketball team to save football, and we had circus off seasons with player arrest and nonsense.
Les wasn’t running a clean program but at least he did deliver one title even though it should have been minimum of 3.

Last year — A
This year — C
So, he gets a B. However, I do have real concerns:
- His coordinators are all his buddies. He doesn’t seem to really go outside his “group.”
- Polian and last year’s special teams disaster
- Matt House
- I’m not so sure Denbrock is this offensive genius. Rather, Daniels, Nabers and Thomas just make insane plays.
- Without Daniels, are we bowl eligible?
- His “big game” record.
- His recruiting when we lack NIL resources

This year was awkward. The divorce drama was glaring followed by his deer in the headlights press conference after Florida state. I think he’s smart but was caught being lazy. He didn’t know we couldn’t form tackle
Naw dumbass, we had a bunch of highly rated transfers in the second flake out (Harris etc) and get replaced by freshman. Just plain bad luck, and several of those guys are off the team.
We also lost Brooks. Thats like 3-4 starters out the secondary.
To finish 9-3 after that is impressive. Also, we barely loss to Ole Miss, and the Bama game Daniels got hurt and officiating made it clear they wanted Bama to win.

Solid B. Depending on bowl/opponent/outcome…B+

It's a wait and see.
He better change the defensive staff or is he just a Dinardo fail.
Or is he seeing the Fisher deal and just take his buy out and go to Big 10?

If Kelly gets to back to back ten (10) win seasons after inheriting an original roster of less than 40 players, that is impressive.
Overall Grade - C
The grade is based on where the team appears to be now and where it is going in the immediate future.
——
Offense - A+
Between staff, talent and execution, LSU seems to be in good shape. Daniels was a huge get for LSU and they developed him while here. His performance here will draw additional, quality recruits. Overall, with the developing young talent at QB, RB, line and receivers paired with this coaching staff, LSU seems good here. A+
Defense - F
With staff, talent and results, I would give this side of the ball an F. That grade is not just for the 2023 season, but also reflective of the immediate future and how thin this side of the ball is on talent. I would have liked to have seen Kelly play Weeks and Womack more, especially if he knew he was going to burn their redshirts. The preference for underperforming portal players over home grown recruited players, especially at LB, was baffling. The results can’t all be talent deficits and is reflective of poor coaching and recruiting.
Special Teams - C
Better than year 1, but not sure that says much and the punting, with limited opportunities, was average at best.
Head Coach - as for positives, given what he took over, and how he appears to manage the program with goals, player development and discipline, Kelly deserves credit. The program now has structure that had completely collapsed under his predecessor.
As for negatives, I would cite the current state of the defense, his apparent lack of awareness of how bad the defensive issues were this season, pre season prep for the first game and poor defensive recruiting. Next years defense has to be significantly better, not just slightly better. This team has major holes on the defensive side of the ball and I don’t see next years offense performing at the same historic level with the loss of Daniels, Nabors and Thomas.
I expect a step back in results for this team next season, but think things could setup well for 2025 if he can rebuild the defense.

Right! Finishing 9-3 with the chance to win a 10th game in meaningless bowl (ex Purdue 2022) doesn't move the needle like it did in the BCS era.
When I think of "10 win season" I think of finishing 10-2 within our 12 game season schedule. That pretty much guarantees a NY6 bowl against another top 12 or the highest non P5 team at the very least.

Mediocre recruiting gives him a C. We are going to be marginally better on the defensive side and the offense will slow down obviously. Next year doesn’t look good

First of all to the people complaining about graduating champions. That is a directed at parents who have been convinced for years by better academic schools like Texas and Florida not to send their sons to LSU because we don’t value their education. Whether it is effective or not is a whole other discussion.
Also I’d give him a B+ as well. Last year he totally over performed. I thought 7-5 was where we’d land in 2022 but to somehow go 9-3 and make it to Atlanta is worthy of applause. In 2023 maybe I drank the koolaid too much coming off 2022 but I thought we’d go 10-2 minimum. I wasn’t expecting the worst defense in program history. To coach around that defense and go 9-3 shows the guy is still a great game day coach.
Year 3 is gonna be pivotal. He has to totally overhaul the defense with some impact players and better coaches. Also he has to make sure the offense is still top half of SEC while the defense comes along. If he can do that and get us into the first 12 team playoff then he’ll back at A. But getting to 12 team playoff by 2025 is a must or he’ll start to feel some heat.

I’d give him a C mainly for wasting such a great offense with an epic failure on the defensive side. When you hear the career coaching grades of our defensive staff, these hires were inexcusable.
