How tone deaf is Joe Alleva when it comes to this corporate tailgating company?

This guy just doesn’t get it. You jack up prices to park around campus and then bring in this bullshite. Give tailgating back to the fans, not to some corporate shills.

Again, the guy doesn’t get it. Making a quick buck will have him losing money in the long term. Another example of his incompetence.

But I shouldn’t be surprised by this point.

How exactly is this service hurting you? Just do what you normally do on game day, and everything will be fine.

I think the whole thing is kinda hokey myself, so I simply won't use their service. If some fans do elect to do this, what difference does it make? There is no feasible way that this can turn into some sort of large scale deal that engulfs the entire campus. It just isn't logistically or physically possible. Let them have their little area to do this. If people want it, great. Doesn't affect me one way or the other.

I think you’re grossly overestimating the size of our campus. Where there’s a will, there’s a way, and thus far good ole Joe has found a way to go completely overboard on the monetization of every single thing related to LSU football including parking and concessions.

It isn’t hard to take the campus map, divide it into sections, and assign a dollar value to each section and require everyone who uses those sections to pay up. It would be fricking stupid, but then again so is almost everything he’s done since he’s been our AD. I certainly wouldn’t put it past him

He’s not tone deaf. He just DGAF. He knows he’s already completely lost the fan base. The only way to save his job is increasing TAFs revenue and making that other higher up douche, Alexander happy.

By starting this policy he achieves both.

So you think this company is going to buy 10,000 tents and hire 10,000 waiters or whatever they are called, and buy 10,000 fans/heaters and 10,000 table and chair sets and just completely over-run the area around Tiger Stadium? I really don't think that is their intention and I don't think this is part of the business model of this group, and I sure as hell don't think there will be a huge demand for this service. I understand the concern, but paranoia has taken a hard grip on some of you.

Simple economics will determine if this works. I suspect most LSU fans will not go for it..... hopefully Joe will be gone sooner than later and all will be back to normal.

Invest in a competent footballer coach and LSU will be swimming in money. Joe is simply not that smart.....

Do you think that, hypothetically, if Joe were to *shockingly* be a greedy frickhead and decide that everyone who wanted to tailgate in the premier/densely populated spots had to pay an annual fee that it would even matter? You do know that their campuses undergo a massive transformation peformed by thousands of employees for gamedays anyway, right? What would adding a few hundred employees for a few hours each mean to them if they were to net hundreds of thousands of dollars per game off of the decision? There would still be a large percentage of the fan base who would just pay to tailgate and the athletic department would be making more money than they currently do off of it, and that seems to be Alleva’s only concern.

How exactly am I being paranoid by pointing out the fact that, at this point, it’s glaringly obvious that Alleva’s approach to LSU football is purely based off of crunching bottom line numbers and choosing the option that grosses him more even if it’s detrimental to the fanbase and the gameday experience?

The Board of Supergarbage needs to be called out here personally every day until Alleva is replaced. Boycott their businesses, take action.

Is it just me or does the high top tent look like 1. A circus. 2. A tent shaped like a dunce hat.

Where yat? I’m over here in the dunce field! 3rd circus tent on the left. With the cool personalized sign. Did you get the Boca burgers? You didn’t? Oh well I’ll have the bellhop go grab some for us. Epic tailgate!

This is so silly.

It always does. It's called the dollar vote. If people don't like it, they will not use the service

There are at least 6-10 fairly large groups that have been tailgating in that area for a long time. Most of it is new green space but not all of it. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out with this shitty home schedule this year.

I despise Alleva as much as the next guy, but this much ado about nothing. Alabama has a similar setup in a couple lots and it works well for the corporate crowd. I've been invited a couple times by folks I do business with for the LSU games and it's been an ok experience. Would I want to do it every week and look for it to be the experience I have with friends at home games? Nope......but to make a few dollars for the university and get the corporate folks involved, it's pretty good.

All of this is contingent on it being cordoned to an area that currently doesn't really attract organic tailgates if you will.

This is just LSU’s continuing the war on tailgating. They would just get rid of it if they could

Eventually, tailgating will be like parking, you will have to pay for your spot at the start of the year and you will only be able to tailgate in that area. If you are tailgating without a "permit" they will remove you.
