Let's say we end up 9-3 and barely miss the playoffs. Would you be ok with that if we win it all next year? Or in 2028?
Past NCs and total since 2000
2025 Indiana- one and only NC
2024 Ohio State- 3 NCs
2023 Michigan - one and only NC
2022 Georgia- 2 NCs
2021 Georgia- Still a powerhouse
2020 Alabama - 6 NCs
2019 LSU - 3 NCs
2018- Clemson- 2NCs
2013- Florida State- 1 NCs

Of course I want to win it all this year. But I'm happy with growing this year and winning it all next year too.

I’d be ok with losing every game for the rest of the season if that means we win it all next year

You're asking the wrong question.

It's not how often do you expect them, it's how often are you competitive for them.

Georgia, Alabama, and OSU are competitive for them virtually every year. We are virtually never competitive for them outside of a blue moon year.

In the age of NIL and the talent in our state we should be highly likely to be in the playoffs each year

A rantards expectation is every year. But it doesn't just stop there.

We have to win every game, but it also doesn't stop there.

We have to win every game convincingly, and then after that game our opponent can't suffer any ugly defeats. If they do, then it just means that we only won convincingly because they were not that good.

Then rinse and repeat this every week, until they have a reason to complain about something.

playoffs started in 2014.

look how many times UGA has made it in that span. 5
bama has made it 9 times
ohio state has made it 7 times

now with 12 teams there is no excuse to not be making playoffs more than not.

Should be no excuse to make playoffs every year that’s all that matters. Get in and anything can happen

Yes, I agree. I want us to be competitive and in the mix every year. I know we will be there with Kiffin. However, with a 9 game SEC schedule and a 3 loss team not given the chance, it's really hard to be in the mix till the end every year. We are still in the mix now, with 2 losses by 1 possession. Just have to win out, which is improbable.

Within every 5 year cycle LSU should in the final four at least once.

Money, Talent, backing, etc. is enough to do this.

LSU might have a down year based on in state talent not being good enough to supplement the portal/out of state kids. but having 9-10 wins seasons should be the standard.

And we basically win it nearly everytime we are competitive, which is unrealistic. Being more consistent is definitely the main goal right now.

How often? Thats an unrealistic approach to it

I do think most fans on this site expect LSU to compete and be in the conversation in NOVEMBER every single year.

When your HC, both Coordinators are the Top 3 highest paid in the country, and your QB is top 3-5 highest paid at his position... that should be the bare minimum.

You dont invest the type of money LSU has been putting into the program to only be in the conversation every 6 or 7 years.

How often? Here at TD maybe 50% think we should win it every year even if the coach is in year 1. If not pick out a scapegoat first to fire. In 2018 it was Ensminger now it Baker. Then they will want to fire the HC. I mentioned in a past post my dad told me when LSU won the national championship in 1958 fans were complaining that we didn't score enough points in the 10 games we won.

With the playoff at 12 teams and now moving to 24, LSU should be in it nearly every single year. National Championship maybe once a decade

Paying a head coach and/or coordinators top 3 dollars doesn’t make them better coaches.

Never said it did... but it comes with an expectation from the people who invest the money. Thats why coaches get fired every cycle.

Do you pay top dollar for mediocre service or product in your personal life?

I just expect playoffs 3 out of every 4 years.

ETA:

If it moves to 24 teams, every year.
