We're known for that u know....LSU...where coaches come to stay too long....eventually get fired for subpar results.....and then suck off the teets of our coffers forever!!!!!!

Thx Joe!!!!

So the coach has no power to build a team that's not mediocre?

PM's past success has bought him some time to turn things around. esp if he makes some moves to change. it is time to hold asst. coaches accountable!

#1-Dunn needs to go. I don't give a shite about his "resume'" being the greatest since sliced bread, yada, yada. he's destroying our pitching staff. 11 free passes last night! 4 or 5 were hit batters. remember the day when hitting ONE guy in a game was unusual? Dunn is the pitching coach, our entire pitching staff has regressed and cannot throw a strike when needed and is headed in the wrong direction.
#2-hire a hitting coach.

at the very least Mainieri needs to BE COMMUNICATED that the underperformance on the field is unacceptable at LSU. he should be made to justify his job and to make corrections or we'll find someone who can. it's the way life works!

2 more years after this one
1 more after this one if he doesn't find a real hitting coach.

How tight are Skip and Paul? I would think if Skip had had enough, Paul might be nudged into 'retiring'. But if Skip is strongly behind Paul, I don't see Alleva making any moves.

he needs his hand forced to make staff changes.

So he can hire more interns with no coaching experience?

This is largely the same team that was a top 8 national seed last year.
I really, really, really wish people would stop pointing to this.

There's more bias in those polls in favor of LSU Baseball than USC gets in football. LSU Baseball is a stoic program with a legendary past; that bias has been earned, but I'm not going to go around bragging about it and it's certainly not something on which you can hang your hat (as this season well proves).

When the attendance falls to an unacceptable level he will go no matter the contract.

WTF are you talking about?

Last seasons top 8 seed was deserved. The question is why do we suck so much with almost the same team.

Put it this way Skippy regrets the hire and has intimated as much among former players and others.

They gave Miles and extra year to see if he would win one last time. His contract ended in 2018. They basically wasted a whole year so they wouldn't have to pay coaches. Miles should have been fired a year earlier but wasn't because of his contract so don't try and compare them

This is a hugely disappointing season but don't put this on Smoke level

Smoke:
2002: lost in supers
2003: 0-2 in CWS
2004: 0-2 in CWS
2005: lost in regional
2006: missed tournament and fired

Mainieri:
2011: missed tournament
2012: lost in supers
2013: 0-2 in CWS
2014: lost in regionals
2015: 1-2 in CWS
2016: lost in supers

Hmm

I'm done criticizing.
This team just doesn't have it.
It's been a struggle all year in all phases.
It's one of those years.
No clutch hitting.
Pitching is too inconsistent.
We've sacrificed power but our speed has not made up for it this year. Our opponents are outhomering us.

Just no continuity or consistency. There's some really good talent there but they aren't performing. Could be motivation or coaching or both. But, we need a better hitting coach. Hits and runs cover lots of other issues. Without them EVERY little problem is magnified.

Not blaming Gibbs either, he was put in a position he was not ready for.
