I’m not saying this is a direct comparison but Everette Golson was onkybar FSU for like a month before whatever season he started for them and he was able to win the job.

I’m thinking that if LSU really wants this kid to be the starter, they will have to incorporate some concepts that Joe is already comfortable with.

Not really. Most good QBs only stick around for two years of starting. During his two years of starting you prepare his successor.

Our successors this offseason had major challenges, one with lack of natural talent, one with injury and the other with body type. And the two with the most promise were only with the program for one year. Narcisse and Brennan need another year of preparation it seems. I know that sometimes college QBs are ready to takeover quickly but our guys do not appear to fall into that group.

Brady has eligibility left?

Just doing some quick research on this, and it looks like it's not the case.

a transfer can pick up virtually all of an offense quite quickly. College offenses are usually simple, because of the limited practice time allowed by the NCAA.

If Burrow comes in and is better at running the LSU offense than any QB we have on the roster right now, we still have a problem in-house

How many of these QB's did O recruit from Day 1?

Bash O all we want but he's trying to make our situation at QB better.

AU, Bama, A&M, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, etc have all done this.

The current qbs picked this offense up in 15 practices. I'm sure he'll be fine. Most of the rpo's that we ran this spring are the same as theirs. Learning the new terminology will be the big thing.

Not bashing O. I'm bashing the way LSU has handled the QB position for the better part of 10 years.

It’s not really a concern. Most offenses are the same, the language and execution (hurry up, check downs, RPOs, etc) just changes.

Not knowing an offense is kind of a bad excuse, or just a general excuse that a young kid just hasn’t picked up on concepts.

Now of course you have things like Canada’s offense that probably require a good deal of memory, but football is mostly conceptual. “Playbooks” will mostly look the same.

I would imagine he would start picking up the offense in June. If that's the case then it is possible. Besides, the offense is still being constructed with only 35% in as of the conclusion of Spring practice. On film, he does look better and he has practiced against a pretty good crop of talent at tOSU.

you hit on the crux of the matter for QBs.

The concept, or lack of grasp of it, leads to repeated bad decisions, loss/lack of "faith" in a QB, which then leads to being risk adverse, which leads to over-correction in play calling and being one dimensional.

If the guy can throw the football effectively and run a decent PA then he will be ahead of the curve.

No. I don't. You don't give Esminger much credit.

Not one coach we've had since we've had QB troubles is going to say that he's satisfied with the way the situation has been handled. They're all going to say they tried to improve the situation.

The proof is when LSU gets good QB play from a guy that was recruited from HS to play at LSU.

I don’t think the recruited out of HS thing is all that important. I’d be perfectly fine with recruiting JUCO QBs or taking transfers as long as they play well.

If the QB plays well, I couldn’t care less about what route they took to get to LSU.
