Georgia State is not a terrible team.

It’s georgia, fricking, state.

The only schools any good with state in their name are:
Louisiana State
Mississippi State
Ohio State
Michigan State
Pennsylvania State
Oklahoma State
Florida State
Kansas State
Washington state
Arizona state

The rest are garbage

It’s actually Georgia Southern. LSU plays them in week one.

If we’ve learned anything from Les and Orgerons first couple seasons it’s that running HB dive 45 times to beat scrub teams doesn’t do you any favors for the rest of the season. This notion that we need to hide things is flat out stupid. You don’t see the powerhouses of college football doing this. They run their offense hang 40 by half and call it a day because it’s not what you call it’s when you call it and how you control the line of scrimmage that matters. The passing game takes the longest to gel and you need your QBs and WRs going up against live pass rush and real coverage schemes to get them ready for the bulk of the season. Repetition not storage is what sharpens your passing game.

That makes the list of respectable opponents much shorter

A guy on YouTube Top Billin' Sports showed a play from the Spring Game and said I am going to circle the Receivers and count them there are 5!

Maybe not even that much. Really depends on how successful they are running the ball. If LSU can run the ball at will, I doubt they open up the playbook much unless they just want to work on some things in game situations. They want to show Texas as little as possible, IMO. Now that they are going to a more open offense last seasons film will be of little help to Texas.

Give it up The team finally has areturning QB who can make a play. We have a couple of top RB. And we left the i formation behind. Give us all a break

I agree, let's use the whole playbook and give Texas and those 8 new starters on D a lot to think about.
Hopefully they will be overwhelmed.

Tired of this idea that you need to hide your offense for it to be effective vs your tougher opponents.

This. If it really is anything new, we should use the first game to open it up and see what we can do. Not the 2nd game vs a real team. We should be concerned about execution not surprising the good teams.

All that needs to be said!

No teams do hide their offense. UGA hid a lot of theirs first half vs. Vandy last year and Bama certainly vs Citadel as examples. It's just that when the inferior team catches a break, stops a drive and get a score to make the score too close for comfort then it is time to take the gloves off and run the offense the way it would be run against any other team.

So why can't we do this consistently? Why does the Georgia game from last year look like it did and then we get to Southeastern, La. Tech or even in conference, Arkansas and we look lost.

I'm sick of this playing down to weaker teams and "hiding" plays for big games. It's a habit we've had for a long time, at least 10 years, probably more.

Teams like bama and Clemson run their regular offenses and fine tune shite against lesser opponents not saying they show everything but definitely don't go as vanilla as we do against lesser opponents. Throw that we saving our great game calling for better competition. How many points have we scored against bama the last several years? Hardly anything. My god if brady comes in here and we actually hit some running back screens against good teams I will whip out the lotion and no fuqs given.

10 in the last 3 years.

You want another stat that will upset you?

I'm not trying to turn this into a Miles vs Orgeron thread so let's not let it get to that but with that being said, in the last game Miles coached vs Bama, we scored more on them than we have in 3 years.

Ouch.

Thank you again for that post earlier, I appreciated that.
