Tired of this idea that you need to hide your offense for it to be effective vs your tougher opponents.

They dont need to hide shite, they better use that game to practice the new offense instead of going into Austin not knowing how well we can execute plays outside of practice.

They should open the book and try EVERYTHING.
Anything that doesn't work against Georgia Southern should be revised or just thrown out.

You never hear about good teams “hiding” or “saving” parts of their offense.

I'm of the mindset. use what you got. Don't take any opponent for granted (Troy).

Every in college knows LSU'S offense. they have been running various forms of it since the 60's

Now if this upcoming offense has new wrinkles it. Well it's one more headache the upcoming d coordinators have to worry about.

I rather have them thinking " are they going to run that when playing us" then thinking we are predictable

THIS!!

Run the offense. Execute it. There’s no time to work out the kinks when you’re playing better opposition.
I’ve always hated the idea of holding back. Dominate. Give no quarter. You can call off the dogs later. You can always hold back a few wrinkles but run the your offense and learn to execute it to perfection.

Maybe, but they need to be who they are going to be from start to finish. If this is an up-tempo team, they need to show that style of play every week. Of course you can put wrinkles in and change the game-plan within that style from week-to-week, but you need to be consistent in the type of offense you're going to be in order to build the confidence, repetition, and execution needed for the tougher opponents.

Going from heavy seven man blocking schemes one game to 4 and 5-wide up-tempo the next will not allow any college offense to establish an identity that can be built upon.

I mean only 30% of the offense has been installed so it's tough to say

I just feel we're going to get up 21 points on Georgia Southern and then hibernate for 2 quarters before our depth just steamrolls us to 10-14 more points. That's the pattern of this offense under this coach.

Maybe. We don’t know since we haven’t seen a fluid productive offense.
However Miles was worse IMO.
Let’s let it play out.

Agree. When your offense isn’t productive and hasn’t been for YEARS, you need to use the tune up games TO ACTUALLY WORK ON YOUR OFFENSE!!!!

So we should break everything out for zero benefit, and give our early opponents credible game film?
The less we let teams know what plays we tend to run in certain formations / down and distance situations, the better, whether you like it or not.
Something as simple as formation paired with certain stance patterns, or WR placement, can be a dead giveaway of which play or small group of plays will be run. If anyone thinks Nick Saban "gives away" his playbook early in the season, they are naive. He was taught by Bill Belechek, they have an incredibly similar outlook on coaching and play calling. Surprises = Big plays..

Use all of the offense needed to make a statement early in the year- the committee will be watching- whatever % that is... LESS any plays specially created for Texas.
No need to expose play to future opponents IF DOMINATING.

There's a lot of benefit in hanging 60 on Georgia Southern. It's dominating an opponent beginning to end. Dominating your opponent is a learned behavior. You don't pick and choose when you want to do it.

The element of surprise is a limited benefit, which is gone once the surprise is gone. No team in the country has enough surprises to last the entire season, or even close to it. What do you have after that when you're facing an opponent and your tricks didn't work?

No one wins a championship off of relying on sleight of hand all season. They win it off of executing your offense well. You do that by running your damn offense and adjusting to adjustments.

You know your program is going to shite when your only hope to beat a rival is to surprise them.

If only LSU could compete in recruiting & on-the-field performance.

I agree

I don't Think there is much substitute for running your offense live in a game.

We’re gonna wanna do that a bit before we play Texas.

I agree with this.

Clemson was running up the score in games last season, trying to polish and perfect their offense. It's better that the offense is very comfortable with what they're doing, instead of trying things live for the first time against good teams.

I hope we see whatever it takes to get past 40 pts, at least.
