Interesting analytical take by a Bama-biased article on how many points will LSU score on Nov 4. They mention low to mid 30s max.

Their defense is pretty good. Mid 30's is pretty solid.

Not saying that it will happen, but it's not a crazy prediction. 2019 offense was held to under 40 points 3 times.

If you told me I could have 30 points from the offense, id take it and hope the defense could get a few stops. Nothing under 30 will be enough to win though.

Mid thirties is pretty good.

How many times in the last 20 years have we done that vs Bama?

Don't care if we have 1pt more than bama when clock hits 00:00..... as long as it's a "W".

LSU’s SEC scoring average of 44.2 points came against the No. 52, No. 55, No. 56, No. 59, and No. 72 Scoring Defenses in college football.

Author takes out “outliers” in their other stats earlier in the article, but fails to mention that these rankings ‘include’ these teams actually PLAYING LSU’s offense.

Taking LSU’s offense out of the average, those same defenses are ranked;
46, 32, 26, 33, & 53

I could nit pick this to death, but nobody got time for that. I appreciate the effort TBH. That being said, Bama had the #13 defense in 2019 and Clemson had the #3 defense. Hung 40 on both. The point is - even the best defenses cannot stop elite offenses when they are going full throttle.

A great game from LSU = 40+ points. A bad game could be under 30, but that even seems unlikely.

It is conceivable LSU will not score more than 24-28 points

38 points is the safe number, if Bama does hold us to 24-28 points then they'll win. But I just find it very difficult that this offense does not score at least 38 points.

Not me. If we win I think we will be in the 40’s. Bama’s offense isn’t terrible, and they will probably light up our defense. If LSU wins I’d guess a 40-38 type score.

I'm not exactly sure my math is right, but if you take out the games against LSU, the tigers opponents (excluding Grambling which I can't find data on) are almost all top 50 scoring defenses. FSU at 19 is the best, MSU at 51 is the only one out of the top 50.

Also, on average, Alabama has scored 27.5 points per game so far against opponents who, on average, give up 25.2 points per game. LSU's opponents have given up about 27 points per game, but the LSU offense has scored over 43 points per game against them.

It is reasonable to think that LSU scores in the mid 30"s because Alabama gives up about 16.5 points a game.

By the way, the worst defense Alabama has played is USF. They are currently ranked 119 in the nation and give up 34.25 points a game. Against that juggernaut of a defense, Alabama scored 17.
