This is why I wouldn't mind if Saban came back, every decision he made was a business decision and you can't blame a guy for making a decision towards bettering his family, you just can't.
I'm not sure I see how the Miami move bettered his family.

He took the bama job to return to college coaching. They could have had him for less.

Neither his wife nor his children wanted to go. Their family was unhappy there. Sure, it was a raise, but given that he was already making millions (and living in a relatively inexpensive place), I don't buy the financial incentive argument. He took that job because he thought he was going to be the next Don Shula; it had nothing to do with his family.

Tiger fans take Les for granted. We should appreciate everything he has done for LSU. He is a very nice person, and he has class. He doesn't get the credit he deserves. Fear the HAT!!

It don't matter how much money you have, a father will and husband will most likely do whats best for his him and his family financially.

Nonsense. He had enough money to send his kids to the finest schools and even fund their retirements if he wanted to. They lived in a mansion, drove Mercedes, and had hired help. At what point are there diminishing returns on additional dollars--espeicially when none of his family wanted to move? This isn't like a guy making $40K moving to take a job paying $100k; it's an entirely different world.

All respect to Coach Saban, but what does he have to do with how long Les Miles stays at LSU? They are two very different animals. And I very much like the animal we have right now.

Trust me, it doesn't matter if you have all the money in the world, you always want more. Someone who strives to be the best never admits that he had enough money.

he has nothing to do with coach Miles leaving or staying at LSU and you are comprehending this thread all wrong.

Even if that were true, it has nothing do with what is best for his family.

sure it does, whats best for his family financially. Trust me, even if my kids didn't want to move from miami to alabama, but their trust fund grew a couple mill, I think I'd make them move to Alabama. And I believe they would understand.

This is the saga of bad blood all around

Les was never in really contention for the Mich job. In fact, Mich didnt even contact his agent until 2 days after Miles said he was staying at LSU. Les was none too happy at the level of disrespect. So no matter what happens, Miles to Mich will forever only mean, how many miles is it from anywhere to Mich.

LINK

quote:

Michigan AD Martin said he did not directly contact LSU coach Les Miles about the coaching vacancy left by Lloyd Carr.

Saban left for a "better" opportunity. When that didnt worked out, and he returned to a division rival. That cooked his goose. 1) because he has to talk smack about LSU to recruits. That gets around 2) His instability will not be welcomed again. Not only to recruits using these facts, Toledo 1 yr; Michigan State 4 yrs; LSU 4 yrs; Dolphins 2 yrs; Alabama 2+ yrs, but to the money people who know another coaching search is just over the horizon.

quote:

only a total idiot would not want him back.

The only total idiot is the guy that left a natl championship team for "a better job.".
