Not hiring a DL coach when Lindsey fell ill, is mind boggling. This DL was not improving and it took giving up 59 to Ole Miss before he hired Jenkins. Why even have a DL coach on the payroll if you dont need 1?
I keep seeing this platitude espoused on this board and I have one question:
Who exactly was available in early August at the beginning of camp to accept the job of DL coach at LSU?
Since most coaches already were employed and involved with preparing their team for their current season, who realistically was available to be hired?
It was a bad situation and Kelly's response was to juggle his staff and move a 30+ year veteran coach into the open position.

Kelly was 4-11 vs top 10 in 12 seasons at Notre Dame.
Brian Kelly is currently 2-4 at lsu vs top 10 teams.
This will hopefully get fixed sooner rather than later.

Considering the roster issues in his first two seasons and that only one of those games wasn’t competitive, that record isn’t bad in context.
As long as it improves along with the stability and improving roster, Kelly is doing what he’s supposed to.
