How is football implicated in the Title IX accusations?
Is anyone able to break down how the football program was negligent in the Title IX deal?

Everything I read is about the Tennis coach and verge.

It appears the players were kicked off the football team.

that is not enough

criminal investigation (and even conviction) by LEO is not enough, either

it's a completely separate animal

I believe the Title IX issue is the alleged rape/sexual that may have been improperly reported.

Title IX requires very specific documentation and handling of sexual assault/abuse.

Improperly.

Untimely.

Or not at all.

That’s were the rub may lie.

Accusations have been made, but we haven’t seen LSU’s side of the story.

The rant is trying to pin it all on O so they can fire him with cause but what we know publicly it doesn’t point at O it points at the athletic department as a whole that dropped the ball.

This Title IX stuff is a joke.

If you are a victim of a sexual crime, you go to law enforcement first. Then, if you choose, sure - inform the college coach or administrator. But law enforcement should ALWAYS be the primary entity in dealing with these issues.

The Title IX stuff isn’t unique to the football team or LSU.

You can find article about almost any colllege royally fricking this up.

It’s just a shite show.

The issues from a sports standpoint are: Sells refusing to report stuff and or believe her players. Wheat and when our AD and Football team knew about stuff.

The football team doesn’t run Title IX investigations. There also isn’t a rule that they have to suspend a player accused. But for the most part these players were either suspended or left school quickly.

This is what I think is so short sighted about those wanting O to get the axe for the title IX stuff. If it’s that bad and that happens Woodward is gone too

I think the provisions for victims of sexual assault are actually the more sensible applications of Title IX.

It’s not that hard. If you learn about it, report it appropriately.

It’s a hell of a lot more sensible than the appropriation of scholarship money across men’s and women’s sports.

Maybe so, but let me ask you this...

If your car is vandalized in the parking lot of your job, or you just going to report it to your HR department and let them handle it or do you go directly to the police? I know where I’m going. And that’s for a non-violent crime mind you.

Why didn’t these girls go to police if they were victimized?

Were the vandals A) employees at my company and B) a part of a potentially highly-protective, highly-insulated internal organization like say....an athletic department?

If the answer is yes, then I would go to the cops and I would appreciate the extra layer of accountability from my employer.

Also, keep in mind that we’re talking about:

18-22 year olds don’t always exercise the most sound judgment, particularly (as I said above) when having to stand up against people who appear to be larger than life (like athletes).

Title IX doesn’t say go to the university instead of the police...it says that the institution that might have a reason to offer protections to someone who allegedly raped a girl has a duty to insure they don’t do that.

Woodward’s saving grace is that he wasn’t here for most of it but yes it is possible it takes the whole thing down but I doubt it. LSU isn’t firing O with cause unless it has a shut and close case. A lengthy lawsuit would cost more than a buyout would.

Accusations of sexual harassment are so serious that even innocence is no longer a defense.

it's 2-sided

one, the burden of proof is lower, so being found not guilty in a criminal setting is irrelevant to the Title 9. you can both violate title 9 and be criminally not guilty (think OK criminal v. civil)

two, the school is bound to certain requirements. even if the accused is innocent 100%, it still has to be investigated fully and a bad investigation/cover up can get you in some major shit
