How important is the Bama game going forward?

I know there was a lot of concern that we might lose this game with the expansion.

Without Saban being at Bama is this series now just another old conference rival? Similar to Auburn or Arkansas. Sure we hate them but the juice isn’t there like it was with Saban.

We were always that hot ex girlfriend to Saban who he would see and think damn I’m good now with who I have but she’s still got it.

Personally I wouldn’t hate rotating Texas and Bama on the schedule. Don’t go more than 1 year without a LSU-Bama game

Bama has always been a big game as far back as I can remember.

Important enough to pound them mercilessly. How's that for importance?

LSU went from 1969 to 2000 without beating Bama in Baton Rouge. And those wins are still few and far between. I'd say beating Bama in Baton Rouge is still the most important game on the schedule.

Say what you want but Saban not being there most certainly lessens the emphasis on the game. It’ll turn into every other SEC game in a few short years. If they’re good, it’ll be like playing Florida in the 2000s. If they aren’t, it’ll be like playing Bama in the 2000s

I know bama should still be a strong program but I want so badly for the pendulum to swing back in LSU’s favor in this series and we start to get some win streaks on them.

Bama is and will always be the game. It would do my heart wonders for Alabama to struggle for years like what happened post Bear.

Pretty easy to answer that question. Now that you think they’re just plain ol bama post-saban, how would you feel if we lost that game for the next few years? Do you think that would be important?

I guess what I’m saying is, of course it’s important. This is a dumb question.

Important for LSU but never has been important for Bama.

They can lose 4 games and will still be in the playoff hunt. Losing to LSU really only benefited them. Hell, any loss for them never hurt.

It will be a noteworthy game. But if they fall off of their standard that has been in place for the last 16 years any LSU victories will become less and less emotionally meaningful. Think back to 2002-2006. The Alabama game was kind of the undercard to the games vs. Auburn and Florida. Still big. But not the biggest like it has been for 16 years.

Bad bama is still no guarantee we win. Being from Mississippi close to Tuscaloosa, 3 games that always matter regardless of records…. Alabama, ole miss, and state.

I hope we win 20 straight, run up the score and humiliate them every time.

I want LSU to be the reason they turn into Nebraska

Respectfully disagree. Bama doesn't even make it into my top 3 for LSU rival games.

War against Nick Saban is over. Louisiana State University has won. Bama is now arky to us.

I disagree and think bama is still important. They have that brand recognition and lazy ESPN reporters will continue to pump them up. I think the OM and Texas games will become more important. Need to smack the black bear rebels back in place. Need to keep that Texas recruiting pipeline open.

It’s gonna be a big game until we beat them consistently

This year, it’s huge. Can not let them gain any momentum. From that point, it’s like the Florida or auburn game. A rival. Hatred. Do not want to lose. But it will have lost some of its luster with nick gone, and hopefully us mopping the floor with them several years in a row.

I do remember being a kid in the late 70’s early 80’s and hating them then too though. But the saban angle definitely added some juice.

I'd like to run the score up on them for at least the next decade, on a yearly basis,
