BK brought ND back to relevance, so I knew he was a good coach. But I didn't pay much attention to him otherwise, except when we played ND in bowls.

I thought he was a top 10 guy. Notre Dame lost a lot of its magic and mystique under Bob Davie, Tyrone Willingham and Charlie Weiss. It seemed like the game had passed them by and the recruiting restrictions were simply too much to overcome. But then BK shows up and they're playing in the championship in his 3rd season.
I think he just hit a wall there. He reached Notre Dame's realistic modern ceiling. He had that thing rolling the past 5 years averaging 11 wins a season. I don't care what your schedule looks like, winning 11 games a year is impressive.

I always thought he was an a-hole who couldn't win the big one.
He still has to prove me wrong about at least one of the two.
Our entire team needs to be executed

Most of the academic recruiting disadvantages at ND are offset by their national brand and catholic school pipeline. They’re still getting a lot of guys into the pros . A lot more work having to recruit nationally instead of regionally like LSU
Kelly is a top10 coach and a huge upgrade over our last 2 any way you slice it.

quote:oh come on. Every college football fan has an opinion on the coaches at major schools.
I didn't think about him one way or another. I knew he was the ND coach, that's all.
Personally, i thought Kelly was an elite coach at ND, and remember his success at Cincinnati too. Now yes, ND was overhyped because of their history but that’s not Kelly’s fault. He had academic requirements at ND that limited the recruits he could get, and still had them winning a ton of games.

Top 10 coach but hard to really nail down where in the top 10. Notre Dame has some distinct advantages---- will have little to no discipline issues with players. Just because players that will consider and sign with ND probably have a little more realistic outlook on their chances at the NFL so they will value getting a education a bit higher. Disadvantages---- There will be some top tier players that will automatically not give ND a chance or will not be considered by ND because they will never fit in. At Cincinnati he did some great things and had some great teams and offenses many considered him a great up and coming super star coach. Many here wanted him when LSU was in previous coaching searches. Now since Fickell has had so much success is it just that Cincy really is a great job or is Fickell a star also? I think we will find out in the next 3-5 years just where BK ranks in the top 10 as long as LSU gets their NIL game figured out which I suspect they will.

Seems like that was a negative point driven about Coach O.

A lot of people complained that Miles was only good for 10 wins a year.

Well bless your little heart. We’re very glad he’s gone.

Seemed like they always played close games against inferior opponents.

When the news first broke I was absolutely furious. Melt level 10. I let my hatred for Notre Dame play into my melt for sure. Brian Kelly has always come off as an absolute douche to me. He just seems like a 1st class prick and I have always enjoyed watching Notre Dame lose big games.
Having said that, I'm starting to come around. He is saying all the right things. I'm not completely sold on the guy just yet, but I'm at a firm level 2 melt right now & I'm taking a wait and see approach. The video of him introducing himself to the team pulled be off the ledge for sure.

Maybe in the 20-30 range. Notre Dame plays a very soft schedule and always is ranked way higher than they should be.

He was highly regarded coming into ND with his success before that. He did nothing to diminish that.

Easily top 5. Made them contenders after being doormats for 20 years.

Truly don't matter much what he did at ND
He's got a much better chance to win big @ LSU
