I used to be the get mad and let a game ruin my whole weekend kinda fan. Then I realized how stupid it was to get mad at something I can’t control.
I get happy when we win, and I get upset when we lose, but only to the point where I’m over it and going about my day 10 minutes after the game ends.
Nowadays I concentrate more on my tailgate and the good time with friends because that’s actually something I have control over.

I was always crazy about LSU, but when I moved out of state in 2005, my passion for LSU and most of Louisiana grew even more.

watching Basketball go down the tubes before WW and watching the last few years of football- the JA and CEO fiasco-
It is tough to have the same allegiance and excitement.
We have been conditioned to accept mediocrity

Still very excited and ready for each season with the same high expectations, however I take losses easier now than just 5 years ago. Still hurts but I forget it quicker and don't go nuts about losing.
I mellowed out having to deal with Miles' stuff. When he lost that huge lead to Tennessee in BR in his first year.... I said Oh Oh Shaggy

I attended my first L.S.U. football game in 1958. I am as passionate today as that 10 year old boy was in 1958. I am a Tiger every time they play, not every time they win.

The stupid questions just keep on coming,

Not quite as passionate as I used to be

I am considered by many, a student of the game, not just a fan, so I often sit at the pub and wonder if we are watching the same game.
Beats watching a pro-game and having fantasy footballers talk about the college the punter went to but don't know the rules of overtime.

How has your fandom of LSU changed over time?
I’ve always been a huge LSU football fan. My first real memory is Charlie McClendon’s last season. The period when I was in college 1990-94 was brutal- LSU football sucked and was an absolute joke. The 2000’s were amazing until the last few Miles years. I feel like we’re returning to something similar to the Hallman years now and I’m less excited about LSU football than I’ve been in a long time. I’d never give up, but I care less and am not expecting much until Aleva/O are gone.
Until Skip showed up, I barely knew LSU baseball existed. I think I saw LSU play at UNO and Tulane once or twice when Jack Lamabe was HC. After Skip arrived, the magic started happening and has been pretty consistent aside from when Smoke was running things. Although the team isn’t setting the world on fire so far this season, I still love listening/watching them play as much as possible. Baseball has pretty much become my favorite of the 3 LSU sports.
I used to be a big LSU basketball fan. I remember DeWayne Scales, Rudy Macklin, and the ‘81 Final 4 appearance. The ‘86 Ricky Blanton Final 4 team too. Shaq, Stanley Roberts, Vernel Singleton, Ronnie Henderson, etc. Loved watching Dale fire everyone up. Brady too. I was not happy when Brady left. I’ve been caring less and less about LSU hoops under TJ and JJ. I quit watching them entirely 2 years ago- the last game I watched was that disaster against A&M in the SEC tourney (Ben Simmons last game). I’ve gotten to the point where I just don’t give a shite about college basketball anymore, LSU included. People seem to like Wade. Maybe I’ll start watching again in the future.

Miles did it for me as well

When I was little kid, LSU football was a something my father and I enjoyed together. Back then, my LSU fandom meant Tulane fans were the enemy. My "fandom" back then meant I wanted LSU to win games, yet I barely understood what was happening.
I was enlisted, living abroad in the 90's. Serving alongside folks with football loyalties from all over the country, I realized how much of a part of America pigskin really is. I was always proud to say I was fan of LSU, despite the Hallman and Dinardo eras, and that got laughs from the hoards of Miami and Nebraska bandwagon fans in my units. I was far more humble and I didn't really feel any animus towards other fan-bases.
The Saban era really got me excited about LSU football. The wins started coming and when LSU became a contender, losses really started to hurt; they put dents in hope and anticipation which did not exist in the decades before. That is when I started feeling an obligation to act obnoxious towards other fan bases. I was living in Louisiana surrounded by fellow LSU fans, it was a circle-jerk.
The Miles era on after, I've been in California. Especially in the post Carrol era, football fans of any allegiance became hart to find. Now, if I see a football fan, I don't give shite if they're a gump, I'm going to be friendly to them because they're ain't many of us where I live. I try to be congenial and respectful of their favorite team and leave them with a favorable impression of Louisiana and LSU football fans. I'm must be getting old or some shite. Stay off my lawn!

You people are pathetic. Being a fan of LSU doesn't change with wins or losses. Being a fan of LSU doesn't change with ups and downs. Every program goes through periods of great success and periods of not so great success. That doesn't mean your passion increases when we do well or "tempers" when we do poorly. I mean come on people, y'all act as if we've had five straight 2 win seasons, you whine and you complain about this and that and talk about giving up season tickets to "stick it to the man" or whatever. Well you know what, fine, y'all can feel free to say your passion has "tempered" and feel free to quit on the teams and stop going to games, but you damn sure can't feel free to call yourselves LSU fans. Y'all aint any LSU fans. No true LSU fan ever stops bleeding purple and gold. Win, loose, or tie I'm a Tiger fan till the day I die. I bleed purple and gold and my passion for LSU can only ever increase. Frick any of you "fans" that pretend your love and passion for LSU changes based on the season.

I went to my first game in TS in 1957-- age 12. Later, greduated twice from LSU. Now 72 years young. Have been a season ticket holder since I left Law School. Visited every SEC opponents' Stadium at least once, except Mizzou. I much appreciate the traditions at other schools and understand it all adds to the pomp and pagentry of college football, campuses(sp), towns, fans. Its all worderful. I also have been to Ohio State, Notre Dame, Va Tech, Syracuse and Green Bay for Tiger football. I've been to Sugar, Cotton, Peach, Citrus and Independence Bowls multiple times-- BCS in 03, 07, and (Gulp) 12. I've enjoyed Tiger fandom the entire 61 years--including finals in Omaha in '00, '09, and '17. Saw BB in '81 regional finals, and '86 regional win over Memphis State-- enjoyed Mike III thru Mike VII. There's no better gameday atmosphere than on our Campus. I'm excited every year, for every sport, and will be until I can't.

Listen to many games on the radio when I was young. Going to school with Ruffin Rodrigue, Eric Andolseck, Derrick Saulsbury, Playing against Tommy Hodson, my interest in LSU was sky high.
Fast forward to Nick Saban, that was the peak of the Moutain top.
Listing to Miles and Watching all the goofball calls Miles made was my low point, never felt we were in good hands, and could lose any game we played.
Coach O is a step up from the bottom of the pit, My fandom is on the rise.

Miles lowered my expectations yearly after 2007. His style was so frustrating and painful to watch.
Saban at Bama further reduced my enjoyment of the game. His coaching skill combined with the levels that Bama will go to in order to win (dodge chargers and free houses) is simply not a fair playing field.
O was the dagger that caused me to completely lose interest.
Have canceled my season tickets.
The good news is that I have more free income and time!
