Growing frustration with coaching, 1/9/12, officiating, execution by team itself, squandered talent year in year out, TD name-calling and obnoxious dumbness, and commercials have been my reality check. I now can keep things in perspective and can (sometimes do) turn a game off and put away TD. So I have the choice and can move on when things start to get to me. Better for my moods and mental health; happier me. Been a Tiger football fan since that first Halloween Night Run.

I have been the same since the 50's. I had Season Tickets for years but now living outside the country I do not. Every game I went to I never left early. There were a lot of games I knew they could not win but I just enjoyed going to the games. If I went to games now I would be the same.

It's called squandering talent. Miles was a master at this....despite what RickD might have you believe.

In reference to my fandom......nothing has changed since I was a child. I still support the 3 major sports and expect to win every game.
I don't stay down as long as I used to when we lose though.

Les Miles kind of ruined me deep love for it. Coach O has done some things to win it back.

Could you expound on this? Specifically the 2nd part.

While there is some truth in your statement you cannot deny that the illogical poor(I'm being nice) decisions by JA and his coach hires taint one's enthusiasm.

One can cheer on a team that loses when you can tell the players, coaches and in our case AD have given it their best. 2 out 3 does not get it done

just an average program these days..been that way a for a few years..its going to take a special hire or a micracle season to get my fandom at its peak which between 03-07

2011 was as great a season as any team had, but that NCG was the low of the low..biggest let down for me

Does a win make you happy? Does a loss make you sad? If you feel none of those emotions after a game, then IMO you’re not a good fan. No offense.

But how long does that high or low have to last? I want LSU to win every game but talk to me an hour after the game and my mood is no longer dictated by that outcome. I may be disappointed in a loss or excited about a win but my mood isn’t going to change. My paycheck gets no larger or smaller after a game. My family still loves me the same so what’s the point in letting a game sway my mood?

I was born into married student housing and my earliest memories are football block parties and the windows shaking from TS noise. It was life or death as a kid. I was at LSU during Saban's early years and everything came to a fever pitch. As I've gotten older, had kids, career, etc, it's just entertainment now. If they're not good, I emotionally divest somewhat so it won't affect me negatively. When they are good, I can't help but get a little caught up and get like a kid again. Right now (since 2013-2014) I am as detached as I've ever been. I'll still watch every game, though I may have to catch some via replay.

I made my peace with things after the ‘14 Bama choke job at home. We are all playing for 2nd in the West until Saban goes, I’ve enjoyed football season a lot more since accepting it.

I also stopped following recruiting closely, I scan the lists on signing day and watch some video on the guys we end up with and that’s about it.

Same. All of the committing and decomitting and ridiculous press conferences when choosing a school just got to be too much as I've gotten older. I can just wait until signing day and check out the classes.

Lifelong Tiger fan since I was a small boy in the 50s. I lived in distant states for many years and, before the internet, it was hard to keep up with the Tigers.
It doesn’t mean as much to me as it did when I was younger or even five years ago.
It’s lost much of its appeal.
Tiger Stadium ain’t what it was. Miles awful offenses sucked the enjoyment out of football, Hoops has been lifeless until this year. Women’s hoops died when Skip picked Van to replace Pokey.
Fans seem more entitled and whiny. Plus, more and more I think less of Louisiana as “home”.

I still can’t believe that the team I love is now led by Ed Orgeron...it’s still surreal!!! WTF happened?!?!

It is unbelievable.

10 years ago not one person would've been ok with Orgeron as HC. Now it's just accepted and normalized.

“Now it’s just accepted and normalized”

I am still stunned, but hopefully it works out.
